Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. We believe that God has entrusted to the Church the message of reconciliation;and that the Church is called to proclaim and embody this reconciliation; to be peacemakers; and to believe and to witness that God conquers all powers of sin and death, of hate, bitterness and enmity, through God’s life-giving Word and Spirit. We praise God who gives justice to the oppressed and bread to the hungry; who sets captives free and makes the blind to see; who protects strangers, orphans and widows and obstructs the plans of the wicked. of welcome and inclusion paired with a singable

and memorable tune. It was published in 1994 by

Marty Haugen (b. 1950). The text is rich with

imagery: stone, water, hands, cross, stranger,

rafter. And, less tangible but no less real: love,

prayers, grace, visions, peace, time and space.
