Join us for Mid-Week Feast on Wednesday, February 11, at 6:00 pm. We will have spaghetti with your choice of marinara sauce or meat sauce, salad and garlic bread. Please remember to complete your reservation slip and drop it in the offering plate or call or email the church office before Tuesday 2/10/15 at noon.

On Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Dr. Mark Douglas, Ethics Professor at Columbia Theological Seminary will be leading an event for the whole congrega- tion that in the Martin Fellowship Hall. The topic is: “Personal Faith and Public Life”. We will share a covered dish sup- per before the program and there will be activities for the youth and children.

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednes- day. On Ash Wednesday we confess who we are and seek God’s mercy for us and this bro- ken and hurting world. We step forward to re- ceive the mark of the cross in ashes on our foreheads. The action is a reminder of our sin- fulness and of our mortality. It is also a re- minder of the forgiveness and hope that arises out of the ashes, through Christ our Lord and savior.

On Wednesday, February 18, we will join with members of First United Methodist Church in

our sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. for our Ash Wednesday service. There will be a soup and salad supper before the service, at 6:00 p.m.

    Hunger Walk/Run - Sunday, March 15th

Over 150,000 walkers and runners will set off from Turner Field on a 5K course around downtown Atlanta. In doing so they will raise money to alleviate food poverty in Atlan- ta. Our Youth Connection will be participating in this walk again this year, but it is open to all members of First Pres- byterian Church. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall im- mediately after Worship on the 15th and have a quick lunch together as we change into our walking shoes. continued on page 4

    Session & Administrative Notes

    Worship Bucks

Many of our members use online bill-pay services or pay their entire pledged commitment once each year for con- venience. These approaches help the church leadership and staff to manage the finances of the church throughout the year. However, there is still a great deal of value in the act of placing an offering into the plate during worship as our response to God's gift of grace.

The Session of FPC ("ruling elders") are encouraging all of us to begin placing at least a single dollar bill into the plate as our corporate act of worship, expressing "thanksgiving to God, the giver of life and all goods, the redeemer from sin and evil." (Book of Order W-2.5003)
