Among those topics they also debate over President Trump’s Healthcare plan, Former Vice-President Biden’s plan to expand Obamacare, and the Democrats’ plans to end filibuster and pack the Supreme Court. President Trump says that nominee Barrett is a top notch choice who’s respected by many and that even some of her biggest endorsers are democratic. Former Vice-President Biden says she and quote, “…seems like a great person.” Former Vice-President Biden claims that if the ACA is struck down, which will most likely happen if Barrett takes the seat, it will leave about 20 million people without health insurance. He continues stating that we should wait until the election is over to fill the Supreme Court seat. President Trump then responds with saying he was elected for 4 years not 3, that he can constitutionally fill this seat this year, and that he has enough time. Former Vice-President Biden states he wants to expand Obamacare, but will keep private insurance. The former Vice-President continues with the Roe v. Wade case, which is about abortion and women’s rights to do so without government say-so, but he is told to bring matters back to healthcare. President Trump responds with stating he wants to abolish Obamacare because it is extremely hard to run successfully because it’s always been doomed to fail. When asked what will Obamacare will be replaced with he responds saying his healthcare plan will be the best and that he’s already managed to cut some drug prices 80 to 90%. The President then proceeds to ask Former Vice- President Biden about his plans for Obamacare and how it will lead the U.S into socialism. The Former Vice President denies that the public option for Obamacare will abolish private health insurance and that the option is only for the people who qualify for Medicaid. He then is asked if he takes office will he end filibuster and pack the court. He responds by avoiding the question and blaming the economic recession on the President. SPORTS

Girls Soccer

by Reese C., 7th Grade Staff

Preview: Buckhannon Upshur Middle goes against North Marion, this Wednesday, September 30th. The weather looks pretty chilly. If you’re attending today’s game you’ll want to bundle up. Stay tuned to see if the Lady Bucs will finish their season undefeated.

After the game: The Lady Bucs started off strong making some great passes down the Field to North Marion’s goal. Unfortunately the other team booted it down the field and out ran The Lady Bucs. This cost us some goals; corner kicks did as well. But Haley Triplett coming down the field, scores! In the end The Lady Bucs faced a tough 4-1 loss against North Marion. This would be the end of their undefeated season.

Cheerleading Facts

by Riley T., 6th Grade StaffCheer is my favorite sport. It is fun and easy. When it first came out, it was only men doing it. Johnny Campbell invented cheerleading. Did you know that George W. Bush was a cheerleader? Cheerleading began in the 1980’s.

Seasonal

It’s Fall Y’all

by Quinlyn R., 8th Grade Staff

I go hunting hand fishing and when you go hunting you need to know specific details to succeed. If you are going hunting, you need to have the proper color clothes to wear. You  are supposed to wear camouflage, so the animals that you are hunting for don’t see you  and run away. If you wear camouflage you may be successful. Also when you go hunting you should be quiet walking in the woods or the animals will hear you. If you  put a tree stand or blind out you want to able to see outside of it. And if you  go hunting you need to know what kind of ammunition you need to harvest the animal. I also go fishing. A good fishing tip is to look at the water before you go and wait your time. If you go and the water is up and milky then you don’t want to fish in it. If you go and the water is at the perfect level and it’s clear but not really clear you can fish in it. So when the water is at a good level to fish you gotta know what kind of pole you need to cast right. Once you get the right pole and the water is good you choose your hook and your bait. You  wanna use a small but not real small hook. And for bait it all depends on the water. So I fish a lot with power bait and pink eggs. Sometimes the fish will eat them but not always. If you are fishing for golden trout you want to cast past them and reel the line in front of them and then they may eat it. If you feel something jerk on your line, you let it take it, then jerk the pole back, reel in the fish, and unhook the fish.

Hunting and Fishing

As we are aware, fall is officially here. So many things come from fall. Like the hay rides, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and so much more. Along with all of this what really is fall? Autumn is the season after summer, when leaves fall from trees. Autumn is the third season of the year, coming after summer and before winter, and coinciding with the dropping of leaves from the trees as they go into a winter rest. If it is called Autumn, then why do some people call it fall? The origin of “fall” as a name for a season isn't perfectly clear, though it's thought that it probably came from the idea of leaves falling from trees, but it is not fully known. There are many reasons that it can be called fall instead of Autumn, but the most common reason is leaves falling from trees. Fall also brings us the holiday of Halloween. Many people think of ghouls and goblins. What did you think of? Halloween is a holiday for many ages. Many Americans love Halloween, why wouldn’t they? Halloween brings us scary movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and so many more iconic Halloween movies. But what is the purpose of Halloween? Obviously the purpose is to scare the socks off of your friends! I mean, who doesn’t love scaring their friends? And those are the many great things about fall. There’s the hayrides, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, leaves falling, and all of the wonderful fall activities.

Artists of the week

F2F Brandon L. 8th grade- Brandon created a Van Gogh-style color wheel. Students in 8th grade are introduced to a number of new color groups, and they study the effects of these groups on the creation of mood within an artwork. They are tasked with individually mixing and creating the colors that encircle the wheel, and placing them in the correct order. This year, the theme of their work incorporated famous artists who use color as a primary element in their work.

F2F Emma S. 6th grade- Emma created a beautiful ocean piece, using multimedia. Each section illustrates one of the seven elements of art: line, shape, color, texture, value, form and space. The Elements of Art is our starting project in 6th grade as it introduces students to the visual ‘elements’ that make our work interesting and aesthetically pleasing.

This image shows our second artist of the week, Jaxon S. Sixth grade students learned about the the Japanese wood block print master, Katsushika Hokusai and his famous print we know as “The Great Wave”. Students also learned to recognize and apply the seven Elements of Art. Jaxon skilled of each of these elements with a section for line, shape, color, value, form and great use if space within his version of The Great Wave.

Art Teachers

This image is an 8th grade project made by Aleah C. Students are learning to identify and apply color schemes in art class as part of a unit on color theory. Students select their name or a word, design a font and draw the letters within a grid that they measure and make. When the letters are complete, they are cut out and pasted on a strip of their choosing. Aleah chose Anime as her theme and did an outstanding job with drawing and applying color schemes.
