Martha, Carrie Beth and I were able to worship with Turner and Meredith this past Sunday at First Baptist Hamburg. Although worship was good, it was not like worshiping with our FBC Stuttgart family! The main reason for our visit was to attend a baby shower for our grandson, Finn, who will make his debut toward the end of October. The folks at First Hamburg did an incredible job showing love to our children. I don’t think Finn will lack for attention once he arrives! I hear that the-bearded-one, Scottie Johnson, was a hit in my absence. Because of leadership provided by people like Scottie, Arkansas Baptists are seeing some new initiatives in ministry throughout our state that are resulting in more salvations, baptisms and new church starts. Your gifts to the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Mission Offering supports these new initiatives as well as those that have been around for years and continue to make a major impact on the Kingdom. If you have not given your Dixie Jackson Offering, please do so this Sunday. “Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Psalm 85:4-6 This has been our prayer since the beginning of the year. Are you still going before the Father on a daily basis interceding for revival in the church? Nothing is more important! We are all guilty of being involved in lots of activities and then wondering why we wasted our time with that endeavor. Know this: A day without prayer is wasted; time spent in prayer is never wasted! During a recent Wednesday Prayer Service, I shared a prayer outline that has been beneficial in my prayer time. Prayer involves both talking to God and listening to what God is saying to you. Here’s an outline of the “talking to God” part of prayer. Begin with a time of Confession Confession takes two paths: (1) confessing to God that without Him I am nothing, and (2) confession of sin. Read John 15:5-8 and confess to God that you are helpless without Him. Read Luke 11:2-4 and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any sins you have committed before God and others. Read 1 John 1:9 and receive His forgiveness. Praise When you have confessed your great need for Him and confessed your sin to Him, your heart should be filled with joy that needs to be returned to Him in praise. Read Psalm 77:13, 1 Peter 1:3-6, Psalm 36:7 and give God praise for who He is (holiness, mercy, love). Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is expressing to God your gratefulness for all the things He has done for you. Read Psalm 100 and offer thanks to God for the ways He has moved in your life. Petition When your heart is overflowing with thankfulness, you are ready to offer your life to the Lord. Read Psalm 51:7-17 and surrender your entire life to Him. Ask Him to control you with the Holy Spirit. If you have personal needs, now is the time to make those requests. Intercession Intercession is “standing in the gap” between the God of heaven and the person(s) you are praying for. Read Psalm 85:4-6 and pray for revival in your church. This is also the time you can pray for your family members, leaders, friends, and people who do not know Christ. Hope this is a helpful tool for you as you continue to pray for revival at First Baptist Stuttgart! First Baptist Church News & Events

Dear church,

This is the last week to sign up for our DEEPER small groups. Small groups will start meeting

October 4, from 6 to 7 pm. Please look this Sunday to make sure your name is on the sign up sheet for

the small group you wanted to be a part of. If you have not signed up please do so this Sunday.

DEEPER Run 4 God small group has changed times and will now meet on Wednesdays at

noon. You do not have to be a runner to benefit from this small group. We do hope to establish a few

running groups from those who plan on attending. Please ask Jennifer Sullivan any questions you may have about this

small group.

Dr. Sam is also offering a Wednesday at noon, Evidence for Faith, small group. If you cannot attend on Sunday

nights or want to get a double dose then sign up for this small group time. This will be a “bring you own lunch to eat”

during this small group time.

The 2015 RA Camp-O-Roma was held this past weekend and we had a blast. 5 RA boys and 4 Dads camped

Friday through Sunday. We were able to participate in Worship, BB Guns, archery, fishing, learning about bugs and

plants, and compass orienteering. The boys played lots of GA-GA-Ball, football and baseball during free time and

flashlight tag at night. We cooked our own meals. ”Thank you” Josh for doing most of the cooking. Thank you Adam &

David for helping the boys have a great time. I had the opportunity to share about the partnership our Mission Kids have

with Mosaic in providing #blankets4boston. I pray that other RA groups would find ways to partner with other churches

in spreading the gospel while being the feet and hands of Christ.

Have a blessed week,

Andrew

Worship Notes

I hope you enjoyed my friend Scottie Johnson Sunday morning. He’s a great friend impacting the Kingdom of

God. I pray his message challenged you to be thinking about what God would have you to do. Please continue to

pray for Scottie and the Outdoor Church of Arkansas as they reach outdoorsmen and their families for Jesus.

I’d like to repeat our request for adult help on Wednesday nights at Flipside. Even though we are without a Youth

Pastor God is still moving in our student ministry. I have never seen attendance numbers increase while without

youth pastor; normally our group numbers go down. After seeing 11 students give their life to Christ I can’t help

but think God is up to something big. Think of student ministry as a big Kingdom picture. If through the power of

the Holy Spirit we are able to see kids saved and get discipled, this generation could change the world in the name of Jesus. If you

can give up a couple of hours on a Wednesday night, join us. It won’t be easy and it might be a little frustrating at first, but I can’t

recall where the Lord tells us serving Him is easy. Please prayerfully consider being an adult volunteer for our student ministry. One

of our church members decided a while back to join our adult team at Flipside; this is their post to Facebook after seeing a student

saved their first night volunteering.

“I am in awe of God working in our small town. The amazing thing is that this was here all along. I was too focused on me to see it. I was too busy. I was on the pedestal.”

Where does God want you to serve?

“I believe!”

Scott
