Dr. Lowery discusses passing wisdom down from generation to generation. Our culture is changing dramatically and we can all benefit, whether parents, grandparents, or singles, from ensur-ing that the next generation learns the Biblical principles of wis-dom that come from the book of Proverbs.

Parenting may well be the toughest job in life, especially in our ever-changing society. When there is a problem between parents and children, the whole family suffers. In this series, Dr. Lowery gives Biblical principles and practical solutions to problems we all face in parenting. Raising Terrific Kids is for today’s parents. Learn about real opportunities to make things right in your family rela-tionships.

We cover these four dynamic topics:

How to Enter Your Child’s World How to Motivate Your Child Through Love How to Discipline Your Child Positively How to Live with a Teenager

If you are a new parent, an old parent, a potential parent, or a grandparent heavily involved in your grandchildren’s lives, you will learn incredible lessons from this series.

Well, it’s not the aesthetics…of the feet that the

writer is focused on actually but the movement of them.

Yeah, we can get caught up in the “feet parade” if we

aren’t careful. Isaiah (and later Paul) is really saying that

what makes them pretty (valued) is what they bring. Here,

they are pictured as the vehicle that brings the best news

ever! The feet are doing their thing to make sure that peo-

ple everywhere can get the very thing they need.

So, they become beautiful…not because of appear-

ance but because they make an appearance! God takes the

ugly and makes it the center of attention, the focal point of

praise. They DO something to change people’s lives. They

tell them the GOOD NEWS!

Let’s bring it home…with this. How are your feet

looking these days? Oh, not to you…to others. Are you

making the effort to take the news to someone? To any-

one? To THE one? It may take effort, you understand. One

verse mentions the beautiful feet on the mountain. I have

struggled up mountains in Nicaragua with other men from

FBCH to share this life changing, destiny altering news.

Not once did anyone we met notice my feet. Well, except

for the old farmer who laughed at my spiffy Merrell hiking

boots – which were no match for the mud and muck of the

rainy season. Most were very glad that we made the jour-

ney to share about Jesus.

Let me suggest that…you beautify your lower ex-

tremities by, as Bill Hybels says, walking across the room

(or office or yard) and sharing your faith. Your feet will

thank you.

Oh, and just so you know…my pedicure is right

after I have bought tons of ammunition, camo, and fishing

stuff at Bass Pro. So, guys, we’re good, right?

Your “man-card” intact Pastor, Rob

THE.ROB BLOG

The 440 page report was

gonna cost $4500!

What report…you ask? The trade

report that would tell me how much

Americans spent on foot care products

in 2011. I didn’t even try to scrape together the cash. I’m

interested but not insane. The best information (FREE infor-

mation) I can find points to totals in the hundreds of mil-

lions of dollars a year spent…on feet!!!

Of course, if your feet hurt…you would spend ANY

amount to make it stop. Hey, you motor around on those

puppies and it really helps not to hurt. You would buy

creams, ointments, shoes inserts, and soaks to take care of

them.

Now, let’s face it…feet aren’t made for beauty pag-

eants. They put up with a lot. An overweight Rob on dainty

little feet spells trouble for one or the other – actually both.

Feet don’t look great on even their best days. The wear and

tear of years and mileage show up “down there.”

Don’t judge me, men…but I confess to an occasional

pedicure. Runners (and I include myself in that group – I

ran…with Larry Brandt…in Haiti…once) have to take spe-

cial notice of the feetsies. At this moment I am nursing a

split toenail that happened during a run. (I tripped.) Any-

way, they look worse the more the mileage piles up.

So, the Bible says…“How beautiful are the feet of

those to preach (bring) the Good News.” Seriously?!? Nope.

Never seen ‘em. I’ve seen big feet, tiny feet, wide feet,

skinny feet, gnarled toes on feet, blistered feet – but never

beautiful feet. So, what’s up with this view on feet?

What’s Happening in FBCH Student Ministry..?

In October the students have been learning

about the theme “Follow the Leader”, which is

focusing on being a disciple. During these

Wednesday nights we have talked about topics of Unconditional

Surrender, Counting the Cost, Staying on Course, and Warning

Signs. As a follow through with these topics they have been rein-

forced during the Sunday School hour.

On Sunday nights during small group we are covering a series

called the Life in 6 Words. These six words are God, Our, Sins,

Paying, Everyone, Life. If you look at them acrostically they spell

GOSPEL. The crux of this study is going through the whole gospel

from Genesis to Revelation and learning the theology of the full

gospel story.

In November our theme will be “Get the Grip”, which will be focus-

ing on students’ emotions and self-control. Also in November keep

your eyes and ears alert to the weekly announcements as I’m trying

to prepare an activity for the weekend of November 9—10.
