David writes: O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. Good News First Baptist Church

Greetings Church Family,

One of my favorite passages is Psalm 139. This passage speaks of how God knows us better

than we know ourselves. David writes:

O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying downand are ac-

quainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it

altogether. Psalm 139:1-4.

What an amazing truth. God knows us better than anyone else. He even knows the stuff we

think before we do. What makes this truth astounding is the fact that He loves us more than

anyone else. God knows us better than anyone on the planet, yet loves us more than anyone

could. Or to say it another way, "the one who loves you the most, knows you the best." Amaz-

ing.

David closes Psalm 139 by praying God would reveal any sin in his heart.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be

any grievous way in me,and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139: 23-24.

David knew that God loved him deeply. Knowing the goodness of God means that you trust

He knows best. "Surrender," is saying you are willing to lay down anything He wants you to

put down because He is good. God created you. He is the one who knows you like no other.

You can trust Him like David, to expose sin and lead you His way.

In Christ,

Pastor Dace

Greetings Church Family;

The school year has come to a close, and the chaos of summer is here. Families are going on vacation, and

students are off to camp. With the short months of summer, slowing down is not an option; however, it is

something we must do. Carving time out of our busy day for family time is important. Planning trips together

even if it’s just a few miles away can be a blast. I want to encourage families to take time together this sum-

mer to stop all they normally do and invest in the lives of their spouses and children, maybe even their par-

ents (yes; in-laws included). Go to the park or the lake, what’s left of most of them, and spend the day to-

gether.

I know sometimes family vacation and camps can conflict. This does not have to be a problem. Churches can

partner with parents and get the dates of church camp out early enough that families can schedule around

these events. One thing I love about camp is that students get isolated from the world for a week, and they

are able to hear God more easily because they slow down. I encourage all parents to think about sending

their kids to camp. As Ra/GA and youth camp quickly approach, be in prayer that God moves in the lives of

the student.

Finally, if there is anything my wife or I can do to help, let us know! If you have any concerns, please come

to us. We want to serve the church and love on everyone however we can. I pray that God multiplies the

church here in Hico, Texas, and He unifies us as ONE Body! With Love , Sam Powers

P.S. We have some family game nights and movie nights planned this summer. I hope to see ya’ll there!
