What if we prayed differently? What if we longed to pray not just for ourselves but for others because we are thankful for them? Upon revisiting my need for prayer, I recalled a short acrostic that helps me organize my prayer life. I call them the ACTS of Prayer, it comes from Acts 2:42. The A is for Adoration, praying to God because He is worthy, not for what He can Do for us but for who He is. The C is for Confession, we all need hon- est confession and repentance of sin. The T is for Thankfulness, I believe genuine thankfulness leads us to intercede on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ and increases our prayers for a lost world. The S is for Supplication, simply asking God to be our supplier. In Christ, Pastor Johnny Personalizing God’s Word In John 10:27-29, John recorded six important sayings of Jesus, facts about believers. First, He said, “My sheep hear my voice.” I ask myself, “Do I hear Jesus speaking?” Second, He says, “I know them.” I ask myself, “Am I comfortable with Jesus knowing what I’m up to?” Third, He said, “They follow me.” So, I ask myself, “Do I?” The first three describe who gets the last three. Fourth, He says, “I give eternal life to them.” So, I ask, “Have I accepted what He’s giving me?” Fifth, He says, “They shall never perish.” So, I ask, “Do I live a perishing lifestyle or a lasting one?” Finally, He says, “No one shall snatch them out of my hand.” So, I ask, “Do I live my faith with that kind of confidence?” How would you answer? Beyond hearing scripture, we need to ask simple questions that personalize its words. Kevin Parker, pastor Valentine Banquet February 14, 2015 Treat your sweetheart to a date night! Over the last couple of years we have had date nights, gone bowling, played kickball in the park, and picnicked and camped together. We have also had the oppor- tunity to care for each other by providing meals when a member is sick or recov- ering from sur- gery.
