PRAYER SHAWL
MINISTRY
Firmly Rooted in God’s
St John Evangelical Lutheran Church 401 3rd Ave NE Waseca MN ELCA
Mission Statement St. John is a Christian family of disciples alive in a Scripture-
based, Spirit-led mission of ministry, worship and play. Disciples at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church are expected to pray
often, worship regularly, learn from the Scriptures, participate in the serving groups if physically able, offer their time and talent as
the spirit calls them, and regularly contribute monetarily to support the mission and ministry of the church.
The Prayer Shawl Min-istry met last month to teach young and old how to crochet or knit to make the pray-er shawls. Anyone that would like to partici-pate, in this ministry, contact Marie Tesch 835-3843 for more information.

Southeastern Minnesota Synod Lutheran Men in Mission Eighteenth Annual
Breakfast with the Bishop
“Old Leadership for a New Church”
Bishop Hassanally will be our key note speaker for our annual Breakfast with the Bishop. Together, we'll explore Old Testament leaders and the ways their leadership in-forms ours as we lead the church into a new future. There will also be time for a question and answer session.
Rev. Regina Hassanally was elected the fourth bishop of the Southeastern Minne-
sota Synod of the ELCA on June 1, 2019. Her term began September 1. In the first eighteen months of her term it is Bishop Hassanally's intention to meet for a one on one conversa-tion with every active pastor and deacon in her synod. These conversations allow her to gain a deeper understanding of the pastors and deacons she is called to serve, the con-gregations she has been entrusted to lead, and the work of the Spirit among the People of God in the synod. In addition to her initiative to meet with all Rostered Ministers she and her staff are striving to visit every single one of the 167 congregations, 6 worshiping com-munities and 2 campus ministries of the synod at least once in the first 24 months.
When she is not in the office or in communities and congregations within the South-eastern Minnesota Synod Bishop Hassanally is with her family. She and her husband Ter-rence have four sons and their days are filled with games, outdoor play, and day time ad-ventures.
Before being called as bishop Regina served St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue, MN.

“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’” (John 20:16) Because of the Easter resurrection we know that our worst can-not destroy the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. Good Friday represents the worst that humanity can do. It rep-resents our efforts to destroy God's offering of love, his mercy and forgiveness, his wisdom, his ever-present help for a broken world, in the giving of his Son. But humans rejected the gift, they killed the gift, they crucified
and buried the gift. Sometimes the rejection of God comes out of pain in our lives. Sometimes it comes out of a sense of unworthiness, or it may come from our anger that God has not "bailed us out" of the dilemmas in our lives or prevented tragedy in our lives. But Easter represents the faithfulness of God's enduring and steadfast love de-spite the worst we can inflict. It waits until we come to the place in our lives when we realize we need the full-ness of God's love. It waits until that moment when we realize that "the weight of our days" is too heavy without God. It is then, like Mary Magdalene at that first Easter, we hear the faithful voice of our loving God speaking our name and saying to us, “Sarah, Mike, Brenda, Pete, Mary, Dave – to you, beloved child of God – my love for you is alive!” Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Remember this: Easter is not just an event that happened 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem. It is Easter on whatever day we discover our need for the love of God. When we discover that all the Good Fridays of our lives cannot destroy the love God has for us. And so, today can be our Easter.
When we sense a need for God's love to hold us and guide our days.
When we sense a need for the faith, hope, and love that only God can give.
The tomb is now empty, and God has raised his Son to life, and he will raise us to life. The love of God is alive! The love of God endures forever! For as Apostle Paul has said, "Nothing in death or life, in the present or the future, in this world or the world to come can ever separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." To that we can say Amen! Alleluia! Christ is
Risen! He is Risen indeed! Alleluia!
Peace, -Pastor John Omans

My prayers are with you all in this difficult time. Remember, we continue to be the Body of Christ even when we are not “at church.” In these changing times, it is important that we continue to connect to one another. Please make phone calls, send emails, and even postal mail. Help our church stay connected. The ministry of St. John will continue, so we appreciate any offerings to support the work we'll do together.
You can give online at www.stjohnwaseca.org (click on the “giving” button)
you can mail your offering to St. John Lutheran, 401 3rd Ave NE Or, you can bring your offering to the church
And if you know of someone who could use some care/visit please let us know. Pastor John and other parishioners are ready to help. Take care of yourself and each other. "By this everyone will know that you are my dis-ciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35 Remember to check for updates on our Facebook Page.
