My upbringing was sadly lacking in spirituality and learning about God. Prior to my parents’ divorce, we went to a Catholic church; I received first communion and attended some catechism but did not complete the classes. After my parents’ divorce, I occasionally would attend church with my father and during my teenage years, not at all. I knew God existed, but I had no personal relationship with Him. And onward life marched on. When Matt and I were planning our wedding (he went to St. Michael’s Catholic Church), we went through classes there together and I met with the priest. I joined the church, not out of any connection with or wanting to get to know God, but because I wanted to get married to Matt in a church. God has a way of reaching out to lost souls. I left the catholic church because I just couldn’t swallow what they taught and I didn’t want my kids growing up with a warped sense of truth. I didn’t know the truth but I did know that what the Catholic church taught was in error. It
always felt wrong to me to call the priest “Father.” He is not my father. I have an earthly biological father and a Heavenly Father. I never believed in confessing my sins to a priest. I always found that ridiculous. And I always found it interesting how the pope is so wrapped up in political affairs when no other religion that I knew of did that. It all just made me feel uneasy. The starting point on my journey to a personal relationship with
Jesus started with a cancer scare for me. The cancer scare prompted me to yet again, attempt to quit smoking. I promised God that if I touched another cigarette again, he could just send me straight to hell. Of course, I smoked another cigarette after saying that. And I was distraught and terrified. I talked with my brother, Bob, who was and is a Seventh-day Adventist. He studied the Bible with me and I started attending the local Adventist church. After several years, I fell away. I just could not get my husband to attend with me, and that mattered to me. I went on this way for a long time. I finally told my husband that I missed the connection I felt from going to church and that I was going to start attending again. Soon we found ourselves going to a Revelation Seminar which led to my baptism, which led to where I am today. And I’m so blessed that my husband took this journey with me.

Camp Meeting 2016
BY THE NUMBERS
God wants us to be happy. He desires to put a new song on our lips, even praise to our God. He wants us to believe that He forgives our sins and takes away our unrighteousness. He wants us to make melody in our hearts to Him. . . .
Let every word we utter, every line we write, be fraught with encouragement and unwavering faith. . . . Think not that Jesus is the Saviour of your brother only. He is your personal Saviour. If you entertain this precious thought, you will . . . make melody to God in your soul. It is our privilege to triumph in God. It is our privilege to lead others to see that their only hope is in God, and to flee to Him for refuge.
Every act of consecration to God brings joy; for as we appreciate the light He has given us, more and greater light will come. We must . . . open the heart to the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness. There is peace in perfect submission....
Let the peace of God reign in your soul. Then you will have strength to bear all suffering, and you will rejoice that you have grace to endure. Praise the Lord; talk of His goodness; tell of His power. Sweeten the atmosphere that surrounds your soul. . . . Praise, with heart and soul and voice, Him who is the health of your countenance, your Saviour, and your God.

will be worth it, because God is there. I have long felt it would be wonderful to learn the history of our world from those who came before us. Honestly, after we are with Jesus, I don’t know how much of our history we will care about. I do believe that the history of salvation with be of eternal significance to us. We will be every learning. I can’t wait!
