Following on from the success of last year’s concert ‘An Evening with Fire.Cloud’, the eclectic ‘Saints of the Future’ programme will involve pupils from various schools singing, dancing and acting, as well as music from local musicians and contemporary dance from Vito Dance Theatre. The Fire.Cloud elves – all those volunteers and helpers who help make good things happen - have been busy working away behind the scenes to ensure that the concert is a roaring success. From the sound and lights to the tuck-shop and tickets, we really appreciate all the time that people are so generously giving us. Come along and join us for some community spirit and an energetic and creative night out. No seriously, it’s that every Fire.cloud event – from one on one meetings to launch parties – all include a social/community aspect. It’s not always relaxed (there’re deadlines to meet), but everybody still finds the time to remember to enjoy what we’re doing. A wise man once told me when we use our skills we’re tired, when we use our talents were energised; every moment at Fire.Cloud is with very talented and energised people.” Fire.Cloud says: “Before Anthony offered his skills three years ago to help out Fire.Cloud we had no website, no back up strategy and no one to phone and say ‘I just did something to this computer and now everything is broken’. Always calm in a crisis, Anthony is Fire. Cloud’s IT guy and great friend. His knowledge of the West Wing is unparalleled as is his ability to deal with questions like ‘so is an external hard drive like having a secret cupboard in your house with identical copies of all your paperwork?’ Thank you IT Anthony - we owe you super big time!” Introducing... News Flash... TOP 3 1 Suzanne buys a new box of biscuits. Jennifer is refusing to eat the chocolate fingers at the bottom of the barrel due to the length of time they’ve been there. Suzanne is refusing to throw them out ‘incase of emergencies’. 2 Robert turned up with a new hair-cut. Flattering and trendy, but not trendy in a silly way. 3 Jennifer’s dad turned 60 this month, happy birthday Mr McGuigan one of our photographers. We hope his new camera arrived as he was refusing to leave the house until it turned up. Concert rehearsals Welcome... I write this from my desk at Fire.Cloud HQ where things have been buzzing even more than usual with energy, people and ideas for the last few months. A new generation of Fire.Cloud volunteers has emerged who are working hard to develop ideas that have been on our wish list for a while. We have three big projects coming up in the next six months; our Saints of the Future Concert in early November, our new look ADVENTure for Christmas and an ambitious development to our creative Lent project ‘100 Hearts’. Anne, who is one of our new additions, has worked hard writing the newsletter amidst all our other deadlines and she deserves a grateful shout out for that. Thanks Anne! As ever I can’t quite believe how lucky and blessed we are to have so many people who give us their time and talent so generously to make good stuff happen. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events over the coming months. Suzanne Bunniss Fire.Cloud Director ADVENTure We know Halloween and Bonfire Night haven’t even happened yet, but it is already time to start thinking about ADVENTure. ADVENTure is a series of Advent evenings designed by, and for 17-35 year olds to provide some time to reflect on their faith in the run up to Christmas. ADVENTure this year will have some inspirational speakers, great music and a chance to get some time out before the madness of Christmas shopping and partying really takes over. This year the dates are: 24th November > 1st December > 8th December > 15th December The venue is St Margaret’s Parish in Clydebank and the evenings all start at 7pm. If you would like to find out more about ADVENTure or would like to bring a group or parish we would love to see you. Get in touch at [email protected] Intention of the Month This month we have been working with children, teenagers and young adults across Glasgow, some of whom are growing up in challenging situations. Please pray with us that their hopes for their own lives will be realised and they will feel loved and valued now and in future. “And no, we don’t know where it will lead. We just know there’s something much bigger than any of us here.” Steve Jobs New Recruits We have been lucky enough to secure the services of two very talented new interns in the Fire.Cloud office. Vivienne Edgar is an artist who is working on a series of four artworks, which will be unveiled at ADVENTure this year, and Jack Barr, film artist is producing and editing various pieces of film for our upcoming concert. As well as our interns, we also have some new volunteers in Robert, Ibragim and Miriam. Robert is a shrewd operator and is helping us out with our shiny new promotions strategy, while Ibragim is doing some graffiti art to freshen up our ADVENTure branding. Miriam is helping us get the word out about our concert and bringing a general air of organisation to proceedings. We are delighted to have these new creative and gifted people working with Fire.Cloud; we hope they like us as much as we like them…
