Important Information Everyday 11 people under 19 are
killed by firearms. Firearms related injuries are the 2nd
leading cause of death for children between 10-14 years old.
Handguns account for the majority of firearms related injuries in the United States.

Know how your firearm works. Store it unloaded and locked. Keep it out of reach of young
children. Lock up ammunition
separately. When possible, use trigger
locks.

Safety Rules
Always treat firearms as if they are loaded.
Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction.
Never put your finger on the trigger until you have decided to shoot.
Always be aware of your target and its surroundings.
Never point your gun at anything you don’t want to destroy.

Range Safety Follow all range rules. Listen to the Range Master. Always keep the muzzle pointed
downrange. Always keep the gun on “safe” until you
are ready to shoot. Wear ear and eye protection. Never load the weapon until you’re ready
to shoot. Be aware of ricochets.

Range Etiquette Pick up spent brass. Take down your targets. Be courteous to other shooters. Always leave the range cleaner than
you found it.

Hunting Etiquette Know the regulations. When approached by a Fish & Game
Officer, Police Officer, or another hunter, always hold your firearm in a non-threatening manner.
Know your safe zones of fire. Keep your gun on safe until ready to
shoot. Sling or holster your gun when climbing. Never use your scope to spot. When in doubt, don’t shoot.

Zones of Fire Know your environment. Know your backgrounds. Know where your buddies are positioned. Don’t shoot if you are not sure.
