description

Fiber DAS (distribution antenna system) from Fiplex offer a wideband RF over fiber solution that exceeds the need for indoor and outdoor wide area coverage for any type of telecommunications system in the ranges between 50MHz to 2700MHz. With our customer´s requirements in mind, Fiplex’ DAS systems are designed under the premise of: robust architecture, flexibility, expandability, and remote control. Its wideband design, along with the high linearity and low noise, allows multiple systems to run in parallel, capable of handling any mixture of analog and digital systems.

Fiber DAS systems from FIPLEX offer a wide band “RF over Fiber” solution that

exceeds the need for indoor and outdoor wide area coverage for any type of

telecommunications system in the ranges between 50MHz to 2700MHz.

The design of Fiplex’ DAS system was done based on the needs of the

industry: robust architecture, flexibility, expandability, remote control…among

others.

Its wide band design, along with high linearity and low noise allows multiple

systems to run in parallel, capable of handling any

mixture of analog and digital systems.

The architecture of the Fiplex Fiber DAS solution is composed of Point of Interconnection modules (POI), which is the I/O point for the BTS, the Matrix Distribution Unit (MDU), that combines all the conformed signals, the Master Optical Unit (MOU) which converts RF to light and provides the overall DAS control and management, and the Radio Head Units (RHU) that provides the RF coverage into the service areas.DAS topology is based on a STAR configuration where all the RHUS are directly connected to the MOU using a single mono mode fiber optic link up to 20Kms in length. Thanks to the built-in Wavelength Division Multiplexers (WDM) there is no need to use two separate fiber optic links, a single one handles DL and UL simultaneously.

www.fiplex.comWiFi Integration

Fiplex DAS features WiFi integration, which allows the radiation of WiFi signals in

2.4GHz inside the coverage area, taking profit of the indoor antennas network.

Integration can be done in two different ways:

• At the MOU

• At each RHU

Integrating WiFi at the MOU allows the DAS operator to place all the Access

Points together at the MOU location, while integrating WiFi at the RHU allows

the DAS operator to use already installed AP without the need of relocating

them.

www.fiplex.comPoint of Interconnection (POI)

Fiplex POIs are band-specific units designed to receive all the signals that are

being handled by the DAS. POI separates UL and DL bands, providing power

treatment per band and per link, with level adjustment capability, to allow an

homogeneous network planning.

POI tray is only 1RU, on single configuration for VHF, UHF, PS 700MHz and PS

800MHz, and twin configuration (diversity) and MIMO configuration for all

cellular bands.

Equipped with AGC and overload function, POI

is capable of reporting alarms to the Network

Manager.

Expandability is simple, just by adding as many

POI as needed.

Fiplex MDU is a broadband low loss high isolation combination device that

provides the capability of making different combinations in order to connect

the different POIs with the MOU.

Built in on a 1 RU tray, provides all the necessary combinations to handle up

to 8 different bands or POIs, and to feed up to 64 remotes thru 8 MOUs.

Two versions are available, low band (from 50MHz to 869MHz)

and high band (from 698MHz to 2690MHz).

Fiplex MOU is a broadband device that converts the RF received, from the

different BTS and/or Donor BDAs, into light in the DL direction, and converts

the light into RF in the UL direction. It acts as a single I/O point for the entire

Fiber DAS, with the capability of handling signals from 50Mhz to 2700MHz with

high dynamic range and low noise. Not only can BDA’s and BTS’s be

connected to the MOU, but it also supports MIMO applications.

All the DAS components (MOU and RHUs) can be

locally and remotely controlled thru the MOU, via

Ethernet or GPRS. Additional alarm outputs are

available (LEDs and Dry Contacts).

Fiplex RHUs are band specific devices that receive the RF over fiber from the

MOU and convert to RF in order to provide coverage for the service area. With

the addition of external combiners, multi-band applications can be provided.

Covering from FM to LTE 2.6GHz, RHUs feature band selective response with

manual gain adjustment and AGC.

Units are provided in IP65/NEMA 4 cabinets, and have DC input power for

battery backup, as well as I/O alarm ports, making them NFPA compliant for

Public Safety.

RHUs can be locally controlled via USB or via MOU, and

can be remotely controlled thru the MOU.

Page 17: Fiplex fiber distributed antenna system

www.fiplex.comControl and SupervisionThe entire DAS from Fiplex, including MOU and RHUs can

be locally and remotely programmed; controlled using

SNMP protocol via Ethernet or GPRS links.

Remote control is done thru the MOU, this way the

Network Operator has a single contact point instead of

having to worry about multiple connections to each DAS

component. The MOU is capable of not only handling

parameters and alarms, but also connecting all the RHUs.

For site maintenance purposes, local connection to the

RHU can be done via USB. This helps the field technicians

do field adjustments and system calibrations, while all

local changes are reported to the MOU for a coordinated

system control.
