FINISHING SCHOOL IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING : Enhancing Productivity in Machining
24 FEBRUARY - 22 MARCH 2014
(MON-SAT, 9AM-5:30PM) IMTMA Technology Centre,
BIEC - Tumkur Road, Bangalore
Need for Finishing School : The biggest challenge Indian educational system faces today, is
employability. One of the major reasons why engineers, even from reputed institutes, are not
easily employed is because they lack hands-on skill. CNC machines have become the order of
the day in most manufacturing industries. There is a need for systematic training with the blend
of theory & hands-on practice including CNC programming, CAD/CAM etc.
University trained engineers lack the “feel” of how things are made and how they fit together.
They lack shop floor experience hindering their ability to effectively use CNC machines. A
practical oriented training methodology coupled with practice on CNC machines will equip
engineers with the right skill sets.
Realising the need to enhance the skill sets of New recruits in manufacturing industries and
fresh engineers in mechanical engineering, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association is
announcing 13th batch of finishing school course, in production engineering.
Course content
Review of machining operations, engineering drawing and
metrology Programming & Operation of CNC Turning centre Programming & Operation of CNC Machining centre Process Planning for CNC Machined Parts Selection and Optimisation of parameters for productivity
