• Nature provides design inspiration everywhere you look. From flawlessly created visually-balanced landscapes to unique patterns that are extremely pleasing to the eye, nature can provide refreshing inspiration for your design ideas.

• Any idea could be sparked, from the way the clouds appear or the way the sun shines through the tree canopy. Take a walk outdoors and use a 360-degree approach when examining your surroundings – you’ll be amazed at what you find!

• Designers can easily get stuck in a design rut with their work becoming repetitive. A great way to avoid this is by looking at the market to get a feel for what others are doing and what the latest trends are.

• A great form of research is to experience design the way it was meant to be…as the end user. Get into the mindset of a potential customer to see your design in a whole new way!

• We all dream. Several times a night, in fact. The trick to using dreams as design inspiration is to remember them. A great way to exercise your brain to start remembering your dreams is to keep a dream journal.

• Write down every detail you can remember about your dream as soon as you wake up. Over time, it will become easier to recall your dreams.

• Although this method may not directly give you an idea, it helps to train your brain to think creatively.

• Sometimes, the more we try to think of an idea, the harder it becomes. Just relax! Take some time to let your mind wander and you will be surprised that inspiration may come from something unexpected.

• For example, having a coffee with a friend and engaging in a great conversation can stimulate your creative brainstorming process. Or, you may find inspiration from a movie trailer, a radio jingle or by experiencing some other form of artistic expression.

TIP 4: JUST RELAX
