FINDING ARTICLES FORENGLISH LITERATURE RESEARCH

Cardinal Meyer Library’s online resources can be accessed 24/7 from anywhere with an internet connection. To access library resources such as databases and ebooks from off campus, users will be prompted to enter their full Marian email address and password when clicking on the resource’s link:

WHERE CAN I FIND ARTICLES?
To locate articles for research, use the library databases. Marian University Library subscribes to over 100 journal, newspaper and book databases. Each database contains a different set of journal articles in various subject areas.
Accessing a Database Connect to the library

search from the alphabetical list of databases
Or select Databases by Subject and select the English Literature page
LITERARY REFERENCE CENTER
Literary Reference Center provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analysis for novelists, poets, essayists, journalists and other writers of the past and present. Provides access to nearly 100,000 critical essays and more than 693,000 book reviews from over 450 literary journals, over 253,000 author biographies and more than 35,000 plot summaries, synopses and work overviews.

Click on the link for Literary Reference Center to proceed to the search screen.
After you choose Literary Reference Center from the library databases website, you will be brought to the EBSCO Host screen.
LITERARY REFERENCE CENTER
Enter keywords into the search boxes• Use only one or two word phrases in each search box. If your
topic is more detailed, break it up into chunks and put each chunk in a separate search box.
• After typing in the keywords. Use the drop down menu to Select a Field– The database will search better if you choose an option. TX-All
Text is the best place to start.

A list of articles will be displayed To display more information about an article click on the title.
If there are too many articles found, try narrowing the search by: Adding an additional keyword to the search Clicking on a suggested subject in the left column

The detailed record pages gives more information about the article including, subjects and an abstract
• To get the citation for an article, click the Cite link on the right side.

To print an article full text, it must have the following link:
The Full Text from LinkSource link appears, click it to access the full text of the article from another database.
If there is no full text option, click the Request this item through Interlibrary Loan link. This form will allow you to order the article from another library. It may take 7-10 days to receive the article, so be sure to request articles ahead of time.
OTHER RECOMMENDED DATABASES
MLA International Bibliography contains over two million citations for books, journals and dissertations from thousands of book and journal publishers.
JSTOR is an archive of scholarly journals in the arts and sciences including titles in literature.
SAGE Premier has full text access to all SAGE Journals. SAGE contains many titles related to literature, reading, communications and journalism.
OmniFile Full Text Select is a multidisciplinary database providing indexing, abstracts & full text from six databases including Wilson Humanities Full Text.
