As a way to express our gratitude and say "thank you" to those who support our parish home, we randomly draw a new winner monthly for a prime parking spot! If you are one of the many who support our parish financially, you will have a chance to win a reserved parking spot in the front row of the lot for a month. Every family that actively gives to our parish will automatically be entered into the drawing, and one recipient will be drawn.

Join Fr. Easton on Monday, February 24th at 7pm as we learn about the incredible life of St. Benedict, the "cave-dwelling kid" who changed the course of western civilization! Benedict founded the religious community that would, in time, preserve the best of the old and allow for the emergence of an au-thentic, Christian way of life. St. Benedict , was indeed, a pivotal player in

the life of the Church.

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age

59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together

are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of

the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the

"paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share

more fully and to celebrate more readily His Resurrection.

The Parish Family of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton will be celebrating the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, foster father of Jesus and guardian of the Redeemer. He is the Patron Saint and Protector of the Universal Church, family, workers, carpenters and a Happy Death. A Saint Joseph’s Table will be prepared on Saturday, March 14th after the 4:00 pm Mass to honor him.

The Origin of the Saint Joseph’s Table Legend has it that in the Middle Ages there was a terrible drought and famine in Sicily. The people prayed to the Lord and to Saint Joseph, Patron Saint of Sicily. When the rain miraculously came and famine subsided, they attributed it to the intercession of Saint Joseph. The faithful promised to honor St Joseph each year with a feast, sharing their precious food with everyone- especially the poor and needy.

The Saint Joseph’s Table is rich in tradition and symbolism:

•A three-tiered altar representing the Holy Trinity is set up. A statue of Saint Joseph is at center of the table surrounded by flowers and candles.

• Since the feast day falls during Lent, surrounding tables are filled with meatless dishes such as pastas, fish, egg dishes, fruits, vegetables and pastries.

• Fava Beans survived the drought and thus, saved the Sicilians from starvation. The beans are said to bring good luck.

• Breads are baked in in the shapes of religious symbols such as crosses, crown of thorns, etc.)

• The altar and the food are blessed.

A Nine-Day Novena to Saint Joseph beginning on March 11th, will be prayed after the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the Chapel.

All are welcome! Sign up sheets will be in the Narthex beginning February 23rd for a potluck dinner where everyone brings their favorite Italian dish to share!

reputed to have been originated by Our Lady herself, who,

legend has it, set up the original Way of the Cross in Her

Continuing on towards Easter we would like our parish family to get to know those who are currently in RCIA or our Adult Confirmation Classes. Who are the newest Catholics of our parish family and what can we learn about them? This week we feature newest Catholics of our parish family and what can we learn about them? This week we feature Vanessa Garza, one of our Adult Confirmation Candidates.

Tell us something about yourself. I am 29 years old. I am a legal assistant at a real estate law firm in Lake in the Hills. I am dog mom to my 5 year old English Bulldog named Smokey.

What motivated you to want to complete your Sacraments? This past year I have become more involved with my faith with attending Mass regularly.

What are you most looking forward to about your Sacraments? Becoming closer to God and completing my sacraments.

Thanks Vanessa...we are praying for you and can't wait until the Easter Vigil when we will see you Confirmed!

Don't let concerns about "what page am I supposed to be on?" scare you away. Sockey will be your guide to answer common questions and overcome common fears. Your prayer life will never be the same!
