Your SupportThank you for investing in the RWJ University Hospital Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Philanthropic gifts from our donors provide immediate, spendable resources for the hospital. In addition, some gifts are allocated to grow our endowment, which is invested to provide a steady stream of annual income for the hospital.
As of the end of 2015, the overall endowment value increased 9% thanks in large part to a generous gift from the estate of the late Herbert G. Stolzer, former member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation as well as the Board of Directors for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Our endowment performance is on par with other healthcare philanthropy institutions, which reflects the challenging financial climate that we are currently facing. On a ten-year basis, our portfolio has had an average annualized return of about 7% per year.
The year 2015 stands out as one of the most impressive fundraising years in the history of this organization. Thanks to you, we achieved the second highest fundraising year in our 35-year history, surpassed only by the campaign to build The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital in 2000.
Below you will find detailed information about our donor restricted endowments, a historical snapshot of our fundraising success, and our investment portfolio allocation as of December 31, 2015.

The Impact of Your DollarsWhen you give to the RWJ University Hospital Foundation, your impact reaches every corner of our hospital. Donations to The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital have helped provide cutting edge surgical technology as well as recruitment of the best pediatric surgeons in the nation. Gifts supporting the expansion of our Emergency Department will enable us to meet the growing demand for fast, efficient, and expert trauma care in our community. Your investment towards improving our telemedicine resources – with new equipment, training, and programs – is bringing healthcare directly to you. Your donations also help our community by providing for health and wellness education, fitness classes, and support groups. Thank you for your role in making all of this possible!
