Currently, US 41 is a major roadway with high traffic volumes and acts as a barrier for residents and visitors between Downtown and the waterfront. FDOT is evaluating improvements to the intersection at US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue that would accommodate all modes of travel and provide a better integrated transportation system as identified in the City of Sarasota’s Downtown Master Plan. PROJECT OVERVIEW Join us on March 28th to provide your input or to ask questions. Additional information will be provided. Improved Signalized Intersection Alternative – this includes adding a left turn lane for the movement from northbound US 41 to westbound Gulfstream Avenue. There are currently two left turn lanes at this location. This alternative would increase the number of left turn lanes to three. Roundabout Alternative – converting the existing signalized intersection at US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue to a roundabout. Following the public information meeting on March 28th, we will incorporate your input and document the results of the study. A public hearing is expected to occur in November 2017 when a recommendation will be presented for your review and comment. At anytime, you may provide your com- ments by contacting project manager Joshua Jester. His contact information is provided below. A no-build alternative is also considered and will remain a viable alternative throughout the process. 2016 2017 Activity Begin Study Newsletters Documentation Public Hearing Study Approval Develop and Evaluate Alternatives Public Information Meeting Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Newsletters Public Information Meeting Public Hearing

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING SCHEDULEDThe Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is hosting a public information meeting as part of the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study to evaluate improvements to the intersection at US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue in the City of Sarasota.

The public information meeting will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida. At this open-house meeting, FDOT will display information for review about the proposed intersection concepts.

The meeting is an open-house format where people will be able to ask questions and provide comments to FDOT representatives in a one-on-one setting. In addition, forms will be available for written comments. FDOT will show a video running on a continuous loop that describes the alternatives developed during the PD&E study. We encourage all interested people to attend and express their views regarding the project and information presented.

FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. People who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or who require translation services (free of charge) should contact project manager Joshua Jester at 863-519-2251 or by e-mail at [email protected].
