DEFINITIONS Assurance Standards The minimal standards of a quality Montana K‐12 education program as defined in
ARM 10.55.602(3). Corrective Plan A systematic procedure and timeline for resolving deviations from regular accreditation status as defined
in ARM 10.55.602(9). Middle Grades Grades 4 through 9 as defined in ARM 10.55.602(25). Misassignment A Montana licensed educator/specialist teaching outside their endorsed teaching area(s) and/or level as
defined in ARM 10.55.602(27). Nonlicensed A person who does not hold a current Montana educator license as defined in
ARM 10.55.602(29). Elementary School A school that offers any combination of kindergarten through eighth grade as defined in ARM
10.55.602(36)(a). 7‐8 School A school that comprises the basic education program for Grades 7 and 8 that may be funded at the high
school rate pursuant to 20‐9‐396 MCA as defined in ARM 10.55.602(36)(b). Junior High School A school that offers the basic education program for Grades 7 through 9 as defined in
ARM 10.55.602(36)(c). Middle School A school that offers education programs for Grades 4 through 8 or any combination thereof as defined in
ARM 10.55.602(36)(d). High School A school that offers the educational programs for Grades 9 through 12 or Grades 10 through 12 when
operating in conjunction with a junior high school as defined in ARM 10.55.602(36)(e). Student Performance Standards
The minimal standards of a quality Montana K‐12 education, which measures student performance on annual state level summative assessments and graduation rates as defined in ARM 10.55.602(41).
Basic Education Program The basic education program requirements as outlined in ARM 10.55.901 for elementary, ARM 10.55.902 for middle grades and ARM 10.55.904 for high school.
