Essay question 1
You have just been appointed as leader of a new shipping and
receiving unit in your organization. You have been given considerable
latitude to select team members from among the existing workforce
throughout the organization. However, you are aware of deeply
embedded practices in many areas of the organization where
employees engage in fooling around at the expense of safety (e.g. by
racing the loading machines). Such practices may be costly and risky
(e.g. some machines and shipped goods have been damaged and
they may overturn and hurt employees). Based on your knowledge of
managing team norms, describe four (4) actions to minimize the
likelihood that such practices would occur in your new team (10
points). Your answer should also explain how each action might be
effectively implemented (25 points).
Essay question 2

a.Recall your experience in and class discussions on the subarctic survival exercise. Use examples from this exercise to illustrate two key advantages (10 points) and two key disadvantages (10 points) of team decision making – as opposed to individual decision making.

Essay question 3
• This question refers to the Ugli Orange case discussed in

one reason why many did not make this choice, instead
using other styles (6 points). Describe three specific
actions that could be taken to enhance the outcome of the
Ugli Orange case (21 points).

wants to keep the 20 district managers across the country informed

stories about successful marketing experiences within the company.
One or two pieces of information are communicated each week and
the Marketing Director wants to communicate this information as
quickly and cost-efficiently as possible but also wishes to make sure
that all this information is fully comprehended by target employees.
Which medium(s) of communication would you choose? Justify your
