Essay question 1

You have just been appointed as leader of a new shipping and

receiving unit in your organization. You have been given considerable

latitude to select team members from among the existing workforce

throughout the organization. However, you are aware of deeply

embedded practices in many areas of the organization where

employees engage in fooling around at the expense of safety (e.g. by

racing the loading machines). Such practices may be costly and risky

(e.g. some machines and shipped goods have been damaged and

they may overturn and hurt employees). Based on your knowledge of

managing team norms, describe four (4) actions to minimize the

likelihood that such practices would occur in your new team (10

points). Your answer should also explain how each action might be

effectively implemented (25 points).
