The main aim of the project is to design a voice based alerting system for the blind people .

Ultrasonic Sensor senses the obstacles in its path by continuously transmitting the ultrasonic waves.

The controlling device of the whole system is a Microcontroller.

This system is very helpful for blind people.

OBJECTIVES

Page 4: final project ppt

EXISTING MODEL In the previous model we have used PIC18F452

microcontrollers It is a 8 bit micro controller and does not supports to

access more equipment's In this model only IR sensors were used This model do not supports the motion sensing sensors High power consumption

NEW MODEL

We are using cortex M3 Microcontroller in our project. It is an 32 bit Microcontroller. The length will be comparatively small and it has more

memory. We can able to access more equipment's It supports all types of sensors

LPC1343 is ARM CORTEX M3 based micro controller.

ARM CORTEX M3 is next generation core with enhanced debug features, supports high level integration.

MICRO-CONTROLLER(LPC1343)

Page 9: final project ppt

LPC1343 has 32kb flash memory. 8kb of data memory(SRAM). USB device. One UART. Four general purpose timers. 42 general purpose I/O pins.

Ultrasonic sensor provides an easy method of distance measurement.

This sensor is perfect for any number of applications that require you to perform measurements between moving or stationary objects.

Interfacing to a microcontroller is a snap.

A single I/O pin is used to trigger an ultrasonic burst (well above human hearing) and then "listen" for the echo return pulse.

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signalling device, which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric. Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm devices, timers and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke.

The block diagram explains us how the unit works. The Ultrasonic Spectacles and Waist-belt for Visually

Impaired and Blind people explains the interfacing section of each component with micro controller and ultrasonic sensor.

Regulated power supply is also connected to micro controller and LED’s also connected to micro controller through resistors.

ADVANTAGES

Page 17: final project ppt

It works as a navigation device for the blind people . This system can be used to navigate by everyone not only

visually impaired under certain circumstances , like foggy mornings with low visibility. Some winter mornings are foggy, where the visibility is very low, then this system can be used.

This system can also be used by patients suffering with various eye ailments like cataract, exophthalmia, post eye operative situations and others.

This system can be modified into a more sophisticated version of itself by using high intensity ultrasonic waves to be used as a navigation system for geological explorations.

APPLICATIONS

CONCLUSION:

This device will help the blind person be more alert about the obstacles.

This project is mainly for the blind people to avoid obstacles by themselves.

This project provide efficient and a economical security system

Page 20: final project ppt

It can detect the obstacle presence from a longer distance and also helps in increasing the efficiency of the system.
