Introduction to the Site

The site for this development is along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. It is

currently a landmark for sale and temporarily managed by an authority

available for its tertiary services - car parking. We find the functionality of

this landmark covers a very high potential of being designed due to its

surrounding commercial development. We claimed to propose a

beneficial landscape planning for the advanced city line.

Introduction

I have decided to develop a recreational area on the designated land,

2601 square meter downgraded site along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, KLCC,

50450, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan. I plan to build a mini theme

park because it’s surrounded by significant landmarks from the commercial

area, educational area and tourism area.

The diversity of people in the centre of the city makes the landscape

design to be embraced, appreciated, formulated and publicised in a

harmonization of old-culture patterns – a new make-up for the

modernization and globalization of the world.

Nowadays, people in the bustling city should came across an

extraordinary atmosphere that increase the productivity of revolutionized

world by means of cultural diversity. People need to have confidence about

the history of cultural formation which brought forward the cultural

differences into the global mechanism that changes the world. The

communication of this concept starts from the mini theme park that

concerns on the blend-culture of a multi-racial country.

Objective of the Construction

- To entertain the nearby employee with new approach of coping the

growth of multi-culture in the working field.

- To nurture the morals of respect towards the cultural art among

young art generations.

- To raise awareness of the importance of culture harmonization

among professionals in the working field.

- To increase public interests on using national art culture as an

implementation on communication, risk and global management,

and professional training.

Conceptual Studies

The mini them park reflect the culture and tradition of Malaysian

culture.

As it located near the national institutions, the park symbolize the

culture preferences and nationality of Malaysia.

As it situated near the worldwide education centres, international

institutions and hotels, the park promote the distinctiveness of national

identity to the international hospitality and tourism in Malaysia.

As it located near the cemeteries, the park upright the ancestor’s

traditional spirit and designed a memorial for their patriotism.

As it situated near the other national-class green landscapes, the park

serves as an elaboration for the greeneries, establishing a fresh significance

– the modernized cultural and traditional signature of the green spaces in

Kuala Lumpur.

As it located near the hospitals and medical institutions, the park

functions as an extra circulation which communicates patients to the nature

of authenticity that lies within this symbolical landscape of Malaysia.

Rationale

According to my research and experience living in Malaysia, I aware

that in the working field, there are a great deal of graduates who are

compassionate about the national art culture or with high spirit of

patriotism nurtured by schools. The spirit of this group of people

diminishes along with the era of politics and cultures in the working

field. The mini theme park could stimulated the thoughts and awareness

on these people to take the importance of preserving their own interests

towards the uniqueness of national culture.

Benefits

The green landscape of the city is mostly covered with greeneries and

the diversity of nature. To create a new generation’s park, I used the

essence of culture harmonization to initiate the new trend in teenagers.

They will be attracted to share with, inspire and impress the

unconcerned groups. This bring forth the modernization in the way that

can bring harmony, and enlightening and effective changes to the world

that perishing in each second.

I also use this culture in teenagers to tackle the outdated thoughts

among adults, as to create new potential to adjust themselves to the new

trend of culture in everyday life of the world.

Impacts

The building of this mini theme park creates a networking rest place

that can diffuses the tension, conflicts and anguishes in employees

caused by the hectic environment of the working field. This leisure

networking brings different way of living to the surrounding areas, as it

increases the prospective of divergent thinking among the professionals.

Professions and Their Tasks

1. Structural Engineer: Draw plans, examine and plan the structures

of rigid features in the park.

2. Landscape architect: Design and coordinate the natural and built

environment in the park to create an atmosphere that fulfil the

green drive of city.

3. Traditional carpenters: Assist landscape architect in the design of

park. Fabricated the rigid features involving beams, columns and

wooden trims.

4. Construction manager: Oversee the construction project and

supervise the construction team. Took responsibility in keeping

schedules, delegating jobs and prioritizing.

5. Material Engineer: Choose and identify the kind of materials that

highlighted the quality of the cultural features in Malaysia.

6. Interior Designer: Design and associate the space of interior with

new trend of cultural attributes depicted in the exterior design of

the park.

7. Quantity Surveyor: Responsible for the cost management

meanwhile create a budget balance that maintains the standards

and quality of the park.

8. Contractor: Perform multiple fields’ duties in construction sites,

hire and coordinate subcontractors such as excavation manager,

cement and brick masons, construction labourers, glaziers et

cetera.

9. Local authorities: Ensure the objectives of this landscape design as such is beneficial to the nearby community; ensure this planning and construction are based on the set of building standard.

INTRODUCTION

In this final project, we are given a task to find a specific empty land with a maximum size of 3500m2 to initiate a small construction project on it in a group of two people. For our group, we came out with an outcome to use the empty land located along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. After surveying, I found that there is no any other place nearer provided for the public to exercise in this area and are forced to take different means of transportation to travel to another places. Thus, I decided to propose a fitness centre on this empty land, which accommodate with commercial block to provide public to enjoy exercising under a complete equipped environment.

The land is a waste of space as it was originally a parking area because public seldom use it. Hence, it is good to have a fitness centre and commercial block to put this empty land in a good use.

This fitness centre is a one stop place for people that are into sports and fitness. The Fitness Centre is a health, recreational, and social facility geared towards exercise, sports, and other physical activities. This is where people can work out and relax and also they can find all types of sports accessories and facilities. This commercial block is a building consists of grocery shops and convenience store. This is much easier and convenience for people to get the needed stuff quickly.

Objective of construction

- To put the empty land in a good use

- To provide a recreation and leisure venue

- To provide a standard and high quality sports environment

- To provide a comfortable and convenient place which is equipped with complete

facilities for exercise

- To raise awareness about importance of exercise for health

- To improve public interests in sports

- To solve the problem of car park

CONCEPT AND IDEAS

The land of site will be fully used for parking area, fitness centre and commercial block.

The land outside the fitness centre and commercial block will be remained as car park as the

building occupies more spaces.

The fitness centre consists of three floors which is basement, ground floor and first floor. The

basement is car park because there are not enough land to provide spaces for car park outside

the building as it was originally a car park area. Ground floor consists of fitness area, shower and

washroom area, office room and waiting area. For the first floor, it consists of gym area, first aid

room area and some convenience store.

The commercial block consists of basement car park and ground floor. Ground floor consists of

convenience stores for commercial purpose.

RATIONALE, BENEFITS AND IMPACTS

Rationale - Distance with other sport and recreation centre is far - Population increased within that area - People surrounding can have a place to work out for stress relief - Awareness of the importance of health raised nowadays - Car park slots need to be added as the circulation will be increased

Benefits

- Increase aggregate demand of the economy, creating new jobs, thus increasing employment.

- Empty land can be functional - Raise awareness about importance of exercise for health - Public interests in sports improved - Provide a nearer fitness centre for public - Stress can be relieved through work out - Have a comfortable fitness centre for people to work out - Completed sport equipment and other facilities - 24 hours operation which allow people exercise in a quiet condition - Car park problem solved with the addition of basement car park - People can get the needed stuff from convenience store easily - First aid area in building increase the safety of the people who work out

Impacts - Causes traffic congestion as the road in front of the site is narrow - Rate of pollution may increase - Safety of the area may be decreased as the location is surrounded by commercial

buildings such as bank - Direction of wind flow are blocked - Air is not fresh for people who work out because it is located beside highway
