This is one of the pioneering institutes for advanced research in the country, gifted

by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan to promote higher studies in Humanities and Social

Sciences. This coveted post has earlier been held by distinguished Presidents of

India like Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. Zakhir Hussain, Dr. Fakruddin Ali

Ahmed and also by luminaries like S. Nurul Hassan, Govind Chand Pande, D.P.

2014 Deputed by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India as Member of

Expert Evaluation Panel to visit Bonn, Germany

The panel was constituted to evaluate projects submitted under Indo-German

Academic Partnership (2014). It comprised of experts from Germany, India and

other parts of the world.

2006 First Woman Scholar to receive the honour of inaugurating and delivering Keynote

Address at IV Annual Human Empowerment Conference, Los Angeles, USA (November,

2006)

The conference was a gathering of hundreds of Indians comprising of distinguished

scholars and NRIs dedicated towards promoting India’s intellectual tradition. Prof.

Padia delivered the Keynote Address on 'Utilizing Hindu Philosophy for Women's Empowerment'. The invitation request itself was a recognition of her

great contribution to the field of knowledge, as it stated: “She is most probably the

single source of knowledge on the subject that we are covering.”

2004 Nominated by the Government of India to represent the nation at an International

Conference in Poland (November, 2004) on 'Women in Indian Philosophy and Culture'

The international conference on ‘Women in Indian Culture and Philosophy’ was

organised by Pedagogical University, Krakow, Poland.

deliver lecture on 'Human Rights' in their prestigious Feminism and Law Workshop

1997 Received the honour of acting as Resource Person at Toronto University in a six days’

programme on 'Race and Cultural Difference Bridge’

The programme was organised by Faculty of Law, Toronto University during

November 17-21, 1997 witnessed the participation of distinguished scholars as

Craig Scott, John Borrows, Kent Roach, April Burey, Wesley Crichlow, Michelle

1997 First Indian to be invited to deliver lecture at Chicago University in their prestigious

Lecture Series in Political Theory (December 4, 1997)

This is one of the greatest honours the university has bestowed on any Indian.

Under this series, very distinguished and globally recognised political philosophers

• UGC Career Award 1986 This is one of the most coveted awards conferred by UGC under which a 3 year Duty Leave

is granted to the teacher for working on that project. Dr. Padia was given this award to

work on Socialism: A Study in Bertrand Russell.

• Throughout First Division-holder and consistently acquired meritorious positions.

• Received the B.H.U. Gold Medal and Karan Singh Gold Medal for standing first in M A,

Political Science.
