Page 1: Final poster

The film poster update and review:

After reviewing my last film poster and asking my

target audience I have finally chosen which film

poster to use as this got the most votes. All feedback

can be seen on survey monkey. The majority of my

clients comments was to make the slogan more

visible in order for it to be read clearly. I have taken

this into account and created the text bigger and

changed the font.

The image: For the poster I decided to trim the image in order to

create a closer picture of the main character and the

surrounding, I decided to do this as I felt it was more effective as

the poster could then be focused closely on the main character

and the background of the sky and the trees. The location is a main

part of the film as it helps to create the atmosphere and it helps to

enhance the fact that life can be harsh which Is represented by

frost.

As seen before I merged two images together in order to create

the desired image, I created this by filtering one image to make the

main character darker and then marked this on top of the

background of the normal picture in order to create two different

colourings my intention for this was to help show the character as

being in a bad place. The idea of her being faded and darker works

nicely with the slogan and helps to show the audience that she

isn't sure on her identity.

The text: For the main title I decided to create a faded effect in order to heighten the

whole idea on how she isn't sure on her identity. The use of the faded and blur effect

helps to show this as the text is not fixed helping to show the uncertainty, This can also

help to show that she is unsure on what to do . For the slogan I have increased the size

and changed the text in order for it to be clear to read as this was a problem before-

hand. I have positioned it at the top as this is a good focal point and it Is something the

audience will read before looking in detail at the photo. This means they can then begin

to understand what the film could be about and what genre it is based around. The

credits are placed at the bottom in order to inform the audience of actors and actresses

an the release date which is situated with a gap between the text in order for it to stand

out. The date is national freedom day which I feel links nicely with the drama genre and

the storyline within this film.

Colours: As my film is based around the social realist genre I

have decided to use natural colouring but add two different

tones one being bright and the other being dark. Helping to

show the contrast linking to how the story has twists helping to

show the reality of life. White was used for the text in order to

create a contrast between the setting which is cold and icy

helping to show the harsh reality but to also show purity within

the character.

I wanted the poster to be simple but have hidden meanings in

order to show the secrecy within the film. It also gets the

audience thinking what the film could be about which would

hopefully make them want to find out more about the film.

To construct this poster I have used Photoshop I feel this

worked well for me as I was able to create the outcome I was

after. It enabled me to merge two images and give two

different colour outcomes. It also let me create a faded title

affect which helped the overall appearance of the poster.
