Describe your personal styles
According to the AMA DISC survey my strongest characteristic is my contemplative nature. My
contemplative nature gives me the ability to characterize in possible situation by analyzing the
whole picture instead of the narrow aspect. This characteristic provides me with all the
information at hand before I make a decision. I need to have all the possible solutions and facts
in my hand. Critical thinking is also directly correlated with a contemplative nature.
Ability to come up with new innovative ideas that can benefit a situation is also directly tied to a
contemplative nature. The survey also suggested that I am tasked orientated, instead of people
orientated. I think that in this aspect the survey is not really accurate. It is all a matter of the
position a person hold in there career. There are many positions that I have had that have focused
on individuals instead of tasks. The position I currently hold is a field representative which
mainly tends to deal with completing tasks instead of dealing with individuals. For example, if I
were in a position which dealt with customer service then my descriptive survey would shift over
to people orientated.
My weakest style is my supportive nature. I do not agree with the survey in this aspect. I am very
supportive in my personal life, but due to the position I hold at work the requirements are mainly
tasked orientated. I was a shift supervisor at a company, and my main focus was customer
service which is very supportive of consumers well being toward the products they purchase. A
supportive nature is usually apart of an individuals personality, and weather it be in school, life,
or work everyone has the ability to be supportive in one way or another.
Discuss how you developed your styles
My personality traits have developed over the years because of the positions that I have held over
the past few years. Over the years I have been involved directly with management which is
tasked orientated. I was always taught to show result weather to job consists of generative
revenue, or completing a task with a faster response time. The analysis of any given situation to
find the best possible solution is embedded in every individuals DNA. Weather they choose to
utilize this gift so to speak is up to them.
Seeking out information is a primary goal of mine. I usually like to do research weather it be on
the internet, or weather it is going to the library to record facts. I also posses self control which is
the ability to keep calm in any situation. The reason I have self control is because I have been
taught by my family, church, and many people to control my emotions, and not let them take
control of me. Granted, there are situations where controlling emotions can not be helped such as
deaths, birthdays, wedding etc. but there are also negative scenarios that can cause an individuals
emotion to lose control such a boss yelling at you for results, or a small argument with a loved
one.
There are many personal experiences that people go through that mold there styles, but I can
attribute my personal style to my ability to overcome any goals that I have set for myself. My
culture and family also help me overcome any goals which have molded my particular DISC
style.
Asses the impact of your styles on your effectiveness
My style has helped me better manage activities by there priority and task level. I usually have a
to-do list that is dedicated on my daily tasks and the order that the task needs to be completed. I
believe that since my style is task orientated it helps me perform better in my work environment.
My jobs consist of my daily performance to provide accurate data to or clients, the better the
accuracy the higher the performance will be. If the performance is at a high level then our clients
will pay more for our data.
In a group scenario my tasked orientated personality gives me the ability to accomplish tasks and
projects as well as to understand the need for new and innovative ideas that can benefit the team.
Critical thinking provides me the ability to give a team multiple options of success, as well as the
perfect solution that can benefit the group and project.
Manager can usually track my performance by the quality of tasks that I have completed, but on
a personal note I am very supportive of my teams, and partners. I usually find many ways to help
individuals accomplish there goals to there full capacities. When I was a manager I would always
finds way to show support to associates. I would enjoy finding rewards for associates that
performed great results. Providing support to friends and family especially when referring to
education is one of my supportive techniques that I posses in terms being a supportive individual.
Identify a target for change and a specific change strategy
The survey has helped me realize that in my current job situation may need to change and deal
more with individuals and tasks. Shifting priorities to have balance effect in my life is a necessity
that can only benefit me in the long run, as I continue to earn my degree and interact with
different individuals my personality will evolve into a balanced person. This survey has inspired
me to interact more with people and take the time to understand them as well as there needs. This
survey was a great tool and experience that has help realized what areas of my life and
personality need improvements.

SPR (Stress Processing Report) and written report
Name: d00762389 Date: 3/21/2008
Your Stress Processing ReportTM Results
The Stress Processing Report (SPR) measures 19 thinking “styles” or patterns associated with stress and various symptoms of strain, including medical problems. These styles are organized into four clusters:
Self, which describes on our views and beliefs about ourselves; Others, which identifies our perceptions, preferences, and values regarding relationships with
others; Process, which focuses on our attitudes and beliefs regarding how we go about the tasks we’ve
been assigned or have chosen to do; and Goals, which describes our outlook with respect to the future.
Your SPR Scores
Your raw scores and corresponding percentile scores for the 19 SPR styles are presented in the table below. The raw scores can range from 0 to 32. The percentile scores describe how your results compare to the scores of a sample of others who have completed the SPR. For instance, a percentile score of 75 means that your score for a particular style is higher than the scores obtained by 75% of other respondents. In contrast, a percentile score of 25 means that your score is higher than the scores of 25% of other respondents.
Scores at or above the 75th percentile are considered “high” and indicate healthy thinking patterns. Scores at or below the 25th percentile are generally considered "low" and highlight patterns that can exasperate—or even cause—stress.

You’re SPR Profile
A visual profile of your results is shown below. The profile was constructed by plotting your percentile scores on to a circumplex, or circular diagram around which the 19 SPR styles are organized.
The numbers and darkly shaded extensions on the profile reflect your percentile scores. Long extensions that move toward the outer edge of the circumplex reflect high percentile scores. Short extensions that don’t go out much beyond the inner edge of the circumplex reflect low percentile scores. By comparing the length of your style extensions, you can identify which thinking styles—and cluster of styles—are areas of relative strength versus which are areas that make you more vulnerable to stress.
When viewing the report online, click on any of the styles on the circumplex to see a detailed description.
The SPR circumplex contains 6 rings, which represent the 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, 99th percentiles, respectively, as you move from the center outward. The thick, dark ring in the middle is the 50th percentile. Scores falling at or around this ring are in the “medium” range relative to the scores of others. One ring outward from the 50th percentile is the 75th percentile. Scores falling at or above the 75th percentile ring are in the “high” range and indicate healthy thinking patterns. One ring inward from the 50th percentile is the 25th percentile. Scores falling at or below the 25th percentile are in the “low” range and identify thinking styles that likely are promoting or causing you stress.
HIGH -- Your score is in the HIGH range if it is at or above the 75th percentile.
MEDIUM -- Your score is in the MEDIUM range if it is between the 25th and 75th percentiles.
LOW -- Your score is in the LOW range if it is at or below the 25th percentile.
The SPR Self-Development Guide contains descriptions of the SPR styles, as well as suggestions for developing healthier thinking patterns and eliminating those that are more self-defeating. Refer to the Guide to gain a better understanding of your current styles and the steps you can take to improve.
Special Items
The SPR includes eight “special items” designed to signal extreme levels of stress. If three or more of these items were given a response of “somewhat agree,” “agree,” or “strongly agree,” please read “The Description of the Special Items” in Section 8 of the SPR Self-Development Guide.

Describe need areas
After doing a careful analysis of all the percentile domains I found that I scored very low
in the goals cluster for satisfaction. The reason I scored pretty low in this department was due to
my current state at work and in school. To get a bit more detailed I am currently not real satisfied
with my work situation because I know that I am capable of so much more. My talents and
abilities further surpass my current job. In the grand scheme of things I feel that I can make a
difference doing something else. Do not get me wrong it is a great job to have, but it is very
redundant and there is no room for advancement into the business department because it is
located in New York.
Satisfaction in school is a bit different. What I mean is my satisfaction will be completed
when I finally earn my degree. It has been a great journey up to this point, but there is still some
work to be done. The next category that I scored very low on was the control aspect. Control in a
work environment is usually left up to management and senior staff; I can control only the aspect
that I contribute to my organization. In organization control is usually difficult to posses.
Employees only have the capacity to follow polices and procedure pertaining to the development
and growth of the organization.
Approval is another category that I scored low on. According to the survey many people
that score high in this percentile usually need acceptance from others in there day to day action.
For daily interaction’s I feel pretty confident in my daily decisions as well as my problem
solving techniques. Approval is not a necessity for me to conduct business in my daily
interactions.
Discuss whether these results are realistic
I believe these results are accurate to a certain extent. There are many variables involved
such as the mental state the person is currently in. There are also financial aspects that need to be
accounted for. For example if a person is attending college there score in the survey should be
lower then is a person that is established in the long term career.
I think through time people develop different types of stress characteristic in there life.
Individuals career paths, personal lives can decline or improve. Thinking habits usually mature
with time and stability of a person thoughts process. If a younger child were to take the SPR
survey there mental state is not usually developed and can not process logical thinking habits, so
I would anticipate variables that need to be consider.
The suggestions that the program offers are pretty useful and can help an individual
improve there though process as well as equip them with better scenario’s to relive stress and
improve there daily operations. I can personally use these techniques to help improve my thought
process, as well as to help me understand how to control my emotions in certain situation. I also
think that this program can help me perform better in school by telling me what area’s of my life
need to be improved on.
Interpret the findings
When I first seen the findings I was kind of shock, but I had an idea what to expect. I
know what areas of my thought process needs improvement. It all has to do with my current
career choice as well my current state of stress. There have been a great deal of unforeseen
changes in my life the last few months, I am still learning how to grow balance out all the
variables as well as deal with all the changes in my life.
The satisfaction section provided me with detailed feelings on how I feel on a day to day
basis. The suggestion that are offered are to write down things that I want to do, as well as things
that I don’t want to and make them enjoyable. It made perfect sense to me. I really enjoy music
or listing standup comedy when I am driving to work. I think my iPod can come into handy, my
job is very technical as well as paper driven and so a little music can come into handy when I
perform these tasks. My job can be pretty stressful at time but it really is not that bad. There are
many resources and tools that my job provides that can help complete tasks, as well as projects.
Control is another aspect that needs improvement. According to the survey depression
plays a role in scoring very low. There are times that I do think that I am not in control of what is
going on in my life, but I realize that if I just do my best in all areas that I can have a good sense
of where I am heading. I am frightful sometimes when it pertains to the future and the
uncertainty that lies with it. The program suggests that I make list of projects and categories
them by things I have control over and things I don’t. Learning how to coop with these situations
are key to an individuals success.
Growth
I have learned a great deal from this exercise. I need to accept that there are issues in my
life that need to be improved on. Writing goals down and learning how to deal with stress will
have to be a process that implement in my daily life. Performing better in school as well as my
job will need to improve, but the process needs to begin with me. I need to learn how to be happy
with my situation at work and in school. I also need to have patience and know that everything
happens in there own time. Never the less this has been a great learning experience for me.

After conducting research about future perspectives positions I would have to say that I
found Chief Technological Executive (CTO) position quite interesting. I really enjoy technology,
and I would like to take it upon myself to work within a field that I really enjoy. After
participating in this week discussion I find that the need to expand personnel knowledge is my
main objective. Technology provides me with all the resources that I may need to continue my
educational process.
CTO have the capacity to be in charge of organizations technological needs. I find this
positions to be quite interesting because I love conducting research on new technologies as well
as there potential benefits. A CTO job description is very broad, and it can range from
controlling the budget within the technological department to the development of a new
technology, managing a group is a must it is required in any executive position.
There are many reasons that this job would be perfect for me. Since I have started my
educational career I have been groomed for this position because of all the courses that I have
pursued. Many of the courses that I have taken have provided me with all the skills that I will
need to be a great candidate for this position.
There are a few drawback of this position, the experience required to gain a position to
become a CTO are 10 years or more, but this is very understandable because it is a high paying
position. One thing that I have learned is that life always presents different opportunities that can
switch your career choice. CTO have a direct communication line open with the CEO. The
reason this position is very important is because there are many organizations that conduct
business without utilizing the full potential of technological products.
Organizations pay a great deal of financial resources to these individuals because it takes
a great deal of control, and passion to maintain this position. The position requires a person to be
on top of there game when finding new technologies to help an organization become efficient in
there daily activates. This job seem great, and I would have a great time conducting business as
well as coming up with new innovative solutions for businesses.
The Keller career services website has a great deal of information pertaining to the career
search endeavor. The website provides sample letters as well as resumes that can be used as
guidelines. The career service website also offers many avenues on the job search such as
various websites that a student can use to search for a position. The website also gives techniques
on what to expect in the interview process. Information is also provided on companies that are
hiring and having career fairs. Keller provides all these resources to students to ensure that they
can begin there career paths with all the information that will be needed.

My research of the NASA website brought me to an article of a new technological
advance that can benefit many international corporations, as well as the space orbit.
Technologies such as the control of device, and computer aboard various space crafts, satellites
etc. have emerged out of NASA. The first experiment was an easy task in the perspective of
computer protocols which consists of the ping of a satellite in orbit and waiting for a response.
To a computer technician this task would seem minuscule, but to aeronautics’ engineering this
can changing the way the space firms conduct business in space so to speak. As the process
continued the development of protocols of existing internet code has been adapted to use the
internet to control certain functions on space missions as well satellites.
This technology can revolutions the space program as well as international organizations.
For example, let’s take into consideration that a firm is fully automated by manufacturing
machines it would be great resources or tool to login into a computer that is connected to a
virtual network and gather information that can be used in real time, the control of robotics as
well as information is a very useful tool and can benefit any organization weather is located in
space or locate in another region.
NASA is really excited that the use of the internet can actually have the capability to
control the devices in space, and gather update date information to make decisions. Security has
been considered as one of the highest phases of this project, but according to NASA the
computers that are connected to satellites, spacecraft etc. will not be connected to a pubic
internet, and there will be a second internal internet that will be constructed to handles all the
functions associated with this project.
The project is called the Operation Missions as Nodes on the Internet (OMNI). This
process would phase out the protocols of using POP systems and will have the potential to
connect all peripherals in space on one single network. The peripherals in space will have the
capacity to communicate with each other via the internet. Information will be transferred that
will consists of weather conditions and atmospheric information, and project will have the
capacity to be developed and implemented pertaining to information available.

Examples of work experiences
I have learned a great deal throughout my work experiences within each organization. Some of
the skills that I have gained consist of being very organized, as well as tasked orientated. I have
had the opportunity of working in the retail, technological, as well as the research industry, with
each of these positions I have always been promoted to some sort of management position.
Management positions have given me the chance to be very diverse and to understand what of
procedure and policies are involved in maintaining an organization.
All the organization that I have worked for have been very diverse and this has taught men that
there are a great deal of experiences out there that can help an organization as well as an
individual on a personal level.
Examples of volunteer and community service experiences
I have not been able to complete volunteer work in our society. I expect this to change with the
years to come. I have found a necessity within our society to help the homeless or poor
individuals in the world. I think that our government has done a great job in helping countries all
over the world with financial help as well food resources.
I believe that it is now the time to help the people domestically. The economy in the United
States is very well maintained and I think that all the resources used in many different countries
should be used within our own country to improve the quality of less fortunate individuals.

Networking connections
I usually keep in contact with a great deal of management individuals that I have worked with in
the past. These individuals provide me with great resources, and information’s that I will need to
progress forward within my professional career, as well as my academic career. In my current
profession I meet many individuals with extensive professional backgrounds. They also provide
a great deal of knowledge and how to achieve success.
My father is also an entrepreneur that started his organization from the ground up. He has
provided me with great counseling as well as what is expected of me if I decide to start my own
technological firm.

Personal observations: (Late Night Thoughts While Listening to Mahler’s Ninth)
I would really like to achieve many things in my life. I often think that there is not enough time
to complete all these tasks. I am very goal orientated, but the time it will take to achieve success
seems so far along. I often get very inpatient with completing many these tasks, but I often just
shrug it off and continue striving forward.
There are many aspects of my life that I would like to change and improve on, and I know if I
can just follow through with these changes that my life would drastically improve a great deal. I
would l like to find a mentor that can educate me in the way of business, as well as in my
personal development. I currently at a crossroads in my life where it is difficult from me to
decide what I want to do, I either want to be an executive, or start my own firm that will
specialize in technical as well as business aspects.
