Pickle SmasherThis little boy is like a nephew to me, though we are not related. On this particular day we decided to have a picnic at the park. We brought with us grapes, turkey, cheese, bread and pickles. He was munching right along eating his grapes and turkey, never getting enough grapes. I took out the jar of pickles and, of course, that was what he instantly wanted as well. I was amused to find out that he ate his pickles as if they were watermelon slices. I decided that this picture would be worth my while, and I snapped a quick picture of him. I’m still amazed I was able to get this picture before squirmed away!

Looking In I adjusted this picture by adding a lightning effect and adding more cyan to the color balance. Capturing pictures of books is not normally my idea of a great photo but this one has meaning to me. Psalms 37:4 is my favorite Bible verse. It reads: Delight thyself also in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. This particular verse has helped me through a lot in my life. While it might not seem like much, it is a constant reminder that I just need to give myself to the Lord and things will work out.

Enter the SoulIn my mind, my eyes normally seem to be hazel, a tinted brown with glimpses of other colors in them. It was a shocking surprise for me to see so much green in this photo. I generally do not take pictures with the flash on, so I’m not exactly sure what brought out this great color. I was in Tennessee while taking this picture. There was a lot going on around me but I was just not in the mood for picture taking. It doesn’t happen very often but I wanted to be involved in the activities and not standing back looking through a camera lens.

Inside BeautyThe black tulip, as my mother told me, has been an intriguing flower to me for awhile now. My thought on this flower before I knew better was that it was either dead or a rather morbid flower. The right light discourages these thoughts. It brings out the rich purple hues that envelope such a sweet center. The details that can be captured inside are amazing. Despite what the world around is constantly trying to tell us, it truly is what is on the inside that matters the most. Which is why I love this picture, I judged the book by its cover before taking a closer glimpse.

Ducks in a RowThis is also an image that makes me smile. Those four little ducks are actually refrigerator magnets. I opened the door and lined them up. When I was in high school, I was a member of the stage crew for the theater. Our stage manager would call us her little ducklings. And whenever she wanted us to pay attention to her she would say, “Duckies in a row!” And that has forever made me love plastic ducks. I wanted to get a picture of all the ducks standing up and standing them all up on the door was the easiest way.

Rough ExitI snapped several shots of this girl climbing out of the tree. We were at the beach and climbing through some of the trails. She decided that the tree would be a great place for a picture. But then she got stuck. She began to venture down and eventually made it safely to the ground. She was not amused by me snapping pictures of her escape but she made it down safely in the end. I love the details of the bark, and the general woods beyond the tree. I like the simple arch in her foot and that you can barely see her body as she climbs down.

Edible Pine ConeThis little adorable guy is one of my favorite kids to photograph. As stated before, he’s my friend’s child. This day was a day of firsts. He found his shadow, took a little hike through the woods and discovered pine cones. He had attempted to eat this pine cone right before I took this picture. I was trying to tell him that the pine cone was icky and this is the look I got from him. He looks rather innocent in this picture. I think it’s also one of his mother’s favorite pictures as well. As it is the background on her computer monitor. The lighting in this image seems rather perfect. The way the light just curves around his body gives him an aura like glow.

Roar This rather terrifying but cute dinosaur became famous while I was down in Tennessee. My friend and I decided that we should create window art for our hotel window. Our room, although on the fourteenth floor, was facing the pool. So we set off to find materials in which create art. We discovered newspaper, duct tape and a permanent marker. We didn’t even have scissors! So we ripped out this character and taped him to our window. He was destroying a city, which can be seen in other photos. And a helicopter was trying to stop him. And on the opposite side it said 603, to represent NH well. The maids never removed it which made it more exciting. And you could see it from the pool!

JungleIf you were not already aware, the best treatment for a sunburn is pure aloe. It has a pretty gelatin like look and is also rather slimy one the inside. But on the outside it is just green. The aloe plant displayed here is a wild, out-of-control plant that makes a nice home in the breezeway at my home. My main goal was to capture the small spikes that run along the sides of each sprout. This particular picture reminds me of a highway system. Each sprout going this way and that, some one-ways and others allow for two-way traffic. Highway systems can seem crazy at times and I, for one, can get easily lost. Just like I can lost staring at this picture.

Out of PlaceAt the beach, I was roaming around. I saw this brick sitting amongst the rocks. It struck me as odd and I knew that I immediately needed to get closer to take a picture of it. I climbed over rocks and rocks and more rocks in my bare feet to quickly to snap this shot. I am completely satisfied with this picture. The efforts that were taken to get it were well worth it. I also enjoy the rocks in the background. The darker tone to these rocks make the brick stand out even more. It also helps that the rocks below the brick are neutral tones. I took this photo into Photoshop and adjusted the color curve. The effect only enhanced the brick.
