When planning our teaser trailer, we decided that we needed to take some photos of our lead character; Daphne Watt, to include on our titles featuring the 5 rules of survival.

We had the character dress in a variety of costumes and do a variety of poses that really summed up the personality of Daphne. We took a lot of photos in order to give us lots of choice when choosing the final 5; one for each rule.

We decided to use this picture as one of our final images because we liked the pose of the character. The hands on hips pose and the way she’s leaning towards the camera is quite a bold stance, making her stand out which is something she is not supposed to be doing according to the rules. This hints towards the theme of our movie rather than just being a meaningless photo.

The costume gives away a bit of the personality of Daphne because of the image on the tee shirt and the facial expression of Daphne is quite a ‘goofy’ face, again summing up the personality of the character.

We chose this photo for a number of reasons. The first being that we liked the costume choice. The actual clothes themselves are fairly normal but the colours completely clash; hinting to her quirky personality and also adding a sense of chaos; foreshadowing her lifestyle and the storyline of the film. The pose of the character gives off a slightly ‘daydreamy’ feel; again showing her clumsy, ditzy personality. The pose is also quite vulnerable, hinting towards the vulnerability she suffers from being in the witness protection programme. Her daydreaming stance and giddily happy face could also hint towards the ‘Never Get Too Close’ rule as it looks as if she is in a daydream; possibly about the male character she is shown to like in the scene.

The reason we chose this photo is because was mainly because of the pose and the facial expression more than anything else. The pose Daphne is in looks almost uncoordinated and uncomfortable; hinting towards her sudden, uncomfortable change in lifestyle and the clumsiness in her character.

The facial expression is very happy yet at the same time very goofy; again this hints towards her character but also gives her quite a loveable look; meaning that the audience will automatically like her and know that she is the protagonist of the film.

We chose this photo because of the pose. The fact that Daphne is in a position where she is looking into the space where we would place the rule makes it more interactive and interesting. The way she is sitting, with her legs at an awkward angle and her hands in her lap gives off quite a young, childish feel, showing her vulnerability as a character and hints more towards the age of the character; giving the film context. The head tilted to one side, looking upwards, again gives the effect of day dreaming; hinting towards the ditzy personality of Daphne. The outfit choice is quite youthful and fun with lots of clashing patterns and colours which we liked as again, it gets across the personality and ‘geekiness’ of our character and the audience will automatically make the judgement that she is not a character who would fit in in a normal secondary school society.

We liked this photo for many reasons. The clashing of colours and patterns in the costume choice is a lot more obvious in this photo and we liked this because again, it hints a lot towards her personality and also connotates the chaos and situation that she is in.

The pose is incredibly uncoordinated and shows her clumsiness and general personality as a character. The fact that she is in quite an uncontrolled position perhaps hints towards the rule ‘Never Lose Control’ rule which would link the photo to the film more and give it more meaning.

• Having chosen the final 5 photos we will now begin to edit them using Photoshop to cut the images out and put them onto a background for our titles.

• The titles will show each rule on a colourful background next to an image of Daphne Watt. The text will then appear on screen as the rules are spoken.
