Teachers are
struggling to grasp
the concept of the
different
technologies available and
sometimes they do
not know how.
Some teachers even feel scared because
they fear that this
will make them feel
embarrassed if they
make mistakes with using the computer
while teaching.
They will have to use
unfamiliar things in their lessons.

2. Explain how you are going to design a lesson plan online by
using Web Quest and what are the real propose using this kind of technology in your professional development.
First of all, as it is known, a WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in
which some or all of the information that learners interact with, comes
from resources on the Internet (Dodge, 1995).
For designing a good webquest I have to develop some basic
components which are the following: The first one is the Introduction, In
this part I set the stage for the activity and catches the reader’s attention to draw them into the quest. Also, I provide there background information
as necessary.
The next step is the TASK, here I state what the students will be
required to do and detail what the outcome will be expected and the tools
that are to be used to produce them. There is also, the PROCESS, in this
section I concise and clearly laid out. I provide links to Internet sites interwoven within the steps. The next one is the EVALUATION, in this
section I display a rubric to measure the product as objectively as possible
and leaves little space for questions.
The next component is the CONCLUSION, in this space I summarize
the experience, allow reflection about the process and add higher level
questions that may be researched at another time. I Give sustenance for thought as to where students can go with the info they have learned, using
it in a different situation. The purpose of the webquest is to allow students
to complete authentic projects and use technology to find and present
information, at the same time, i will be doing a good use of time in the classroom to develop another kind of activity if I take advantage of the
tools that technology provides.
3. Explain how you are going to deal if you want to use technology
in a school or place of work but there is not Tech in the
classroom. What are you going to do? How are you going to
solve the problem? Provide resources that you will use and the
procedures.
If I were working in a school where there is not technology, I would first try to encourage the principals, for they recognize that will benefit to
students, teachers and therefore to the school in the long term to acquire
or provide at least the most useful device which is the computer. They
have to know that Using technology to enhance learning is not a new
concept, they will discover valuable professional development and excellent
outcomes if they make an effort to bring the resources.
Then, I will teach using blended learning in the classroom in order to encourage them to use the technology in a beneficial way and not just for
fun. I will turn the class per groups, giving them the opportunity to use at
least the computer that I bring and then turn other groups after doing
another kind of activity. Then, assuming they have computer at home, I’m going to use one specific blog post to give my students a choice of follow a
set of articles or links related to the topic I am teaching. Then, taking in
account their comments on the forum we have created, I will provide to my
class webquests depending on their strengths. Next class in the classroom,
every student will debrief and share in oral presentations what they learn and at the same time they would be evaluated taking in account the
aspects given in a rubric that I have had explained already.
4. Choose digital resources you will include and describe how
those digital resources you are going to improve you PLE and
PLN.
PLE (Personal Learning Environment)
The set of the different applications, services and various other types of learning resources gathered from different contexts. It is constructed by an
individual and used in everyday life for learning.
Twitter:
Using twitter is also very important; you are being informed of current
events, know distinct opinions, hobbies or passions from different people
or organizations.
Facebook:
This is the most useful tool in the PLE because is the best way of keeping up to date with homework or events. I can fallow some pages of my interest
and share some important information on my wall and at the same time
receive the info from my friends or classmates.
Youtube
Having a YouTube account allows me to comment on the videos I watch;
therefore develop my critical thinking while I am improving my listening
skill.
Skype
This is a tool I can use to interact with people from other countries in
order to understand some cultural differences. Also, as it is an inexpensive
widely accessible tool it permit me encourage the faculty to experiment
with new techniques as student and as a teacher.
English Attack
This is a very effective way to acquire vocabulary while the interactive
game or the movies I can watch in the site.
Blogger
Using blogger helps me to get the information of my interest as teacher
and student, also, allows me to use in a better way my time. The site is very useful because contains all kind of information in an organized
manner and I can use it without complications.
Zunal
This is an amazing tool for teaching or learning in a better and organized
way, I can learn developing a variety of activities and using a lot of
resources the site allows me to use. The webquests I can find are complete
and varied in activities and that is why this site contributes to my learning
process.
Gmail
I use gmail to view files received as attachments in supported formats. Also, I can save the attachments directly to Google Drive. The service
allows me to make free calls from my Gmail account and also call other
countries on a fee basis.
PLN (Personal Learning Network)
It allows me to develop my own personalized “network” of fellow educators
and resources who are designed to make me a better professional.
Using emails is very important in the educational area as a supplement to
teaching. I can use it as a strategy for providing extra information or
communicating with colleagues.
Blogger
I use blogger to share my knowledge and to interact with my colleagues of
job online or with the people who is interested in what I share.
In Facebook I can fallow some pages of my interest and share some
important information on my wall and at the same time receive the info
from my colleagues or students.
I use LinkedIn in order to become visibly active in professional
communities that matter to my long-term career goals. Thus, when it comes to finding employment or a company is looking for employees I can
have the chance to be nominated.
In this site I can share what I am learning or thinking about our work area
into the most simple format possible in order to be understood by my
friends and coworkers.
YouTube
Using YouTube could be a very useful tool for learning or teaching a
foreign language if we know the correct way to use it. Subscribing to
channels can allow you to participate in a forum in order to being active in
this educational world.
Conclusion
As a conclusion I can say that, classrooms certainly have changed
over the years, but what counts the most is their efficiency. Educational technology has its moments, but at the same time it can open students’
minds and help them to achieve great things that will help them in the
future.
The only way technology can be effective is if the teacher becomes
educated in what tools are available, and learns how to use the tools
appropriately. If the teacher relies on just the technology as their way of
teaching, then it will not get through to the students.
As teacher I can lecture and use textbooks, but I should still show important videos and allow students to participate in interactive games.
Students will gain knowledge from textbooks, but gain experience through
technology.
In the recent years, a number of approaches to employ technology
tools and services in education emerged. Blogs, social networking tools,
sites to create online lesson plans, podcasts, and even more tools I apply. The challenge is to improve our skills in using those things in the various
subjects and the different levels. The benefits are multiples, the education
process is more attractive for the students, increased the quality of
learning, practicing skills such as critical and analytical thinking, collaboration teamwork through the PLE and PLN and the professional
presentation and communication.
