GreenSophieFive months aFter the release oF her number one album , sophie Green prepares to cement the mainstream success with a year on the road!!
Just 12 months ago Sophie Green was an unknown artist , performing at pubs and clubs. Lit-tle did she know , she was about to storm into the limelight , be-coming one of the most successful female artists of this year. With her first single debuting at number one in the charts Sophie knew her life was about to change drastically. “When i found out i was number one i was estatic , i seri-ously could’nt believe it, I knew right then my life was go-ing to change.”. After supporintg Florence and the Machine on tour , an exhausted Sophie barely recovered is about to set off on her own tour. “Sup-porting Florence and the Machine was so amazing , I felt like i had really made it big. The audiences were so lively and accepting of my style , i felt at home on stage , so i decided to go on tour alone and give back to my fans, but i knew i wanted to do it big”. Beleive it or not but Sophie is also finding time during her busy touring scheduele to write her next album , trying to continue the success of her first
album. “I’m always writing lyrics , i carry a notepad around with me and just jot down things here and there , what i think sounds good , or experiances i’ve gone through. I like to keep busy as well so thats why I’m writing and touring as well , I’m not sure when it will be finished , maybe 5months , maybe 5 years who knows”. “it is hard competing with all the pop and rock groups but you just have to
be confident in what you write”. Sophie was signed to a very famous record label, however she got dropped
soon after. “ i was at an all time low, it really knocked my confi-dence , you have to be careful with these major record labels becuase they try and manufacture your music to sound more mainstream. I wasn’t willing to change my style though , so they dropped me.” Sophie’s unique soul inspired indie had been critiqued by some peo-ple in the press , but her desire and drive has kept her on track. “ I’m not really bothered what they say about me , if you dont like it , dont listen.[laughs]. Sophie will soon be turning nineteen , and will
be promising british talent in the future to win big awards. She’s already nominated for a BRIT award. “I’m looking forward to the BRIT awards this year ,I dont think i’ll win [laughs] it’s just an
honour to be nominated, I can’t wait to get all dolled up , lets just hope i don’t trip and fall on the red carpet. Dealing with the paperatzzi and papers can be a negative side to fame , however Sophie seems to be avoiding it. “to be honest I dont get noticed when im out , and there has been some negative press written about me , but i just ignore it. You find out things you never knew about yourself reading all the rumours [laughs]”.
“you have to be careFul with these maJor record
labels becuase they try and and manuFacture your music”
