    1/1

It is now six months since Commission 2008, the seventh of FOCUS Kenya Mission

Conventions, was held at Kabarak University, in Nakuru Kenya. I do not know which memory

this evokes to you. To us, it is still thanks giving that: Commission 08 brought together 2340

delegates drawn from 18 countries within and outside Africa! But more to this, is that you and I

went to Hear God as he helped us examine the values He expected us to portray and exhibit as wecarry out the mission of Jesus, hence the emphasis: Values of the Kingdom of God as We Go! The

Bible Expositions, small group Bible studies, the plenary, exhibitions and even games, all underthe theme; As the Father Sent Me, So I Send You (John 20: 21).

The good news is that God is at work and He is causing many who attended to refresh and

actualize their commitments in different ways within different contexts. Testimonies abound; to

point out is over 20 students who have committed themselves to at least one year of service upon

their graduation, the Pastor who enrolled right away from Commission for Theological studies,

students who are now committed to witnessing within their institutions, and the testimonies

    unknown to us!

We note and uphold the special ability for God to lead you in various ways in actualization of

your commitment, and we know that you are doing all that is within your reach to actualize your

vision and dream as far as Upholding Kingdom values is concerned. Yet also, FOCUS iscommitted to enhancing the formation of convictions, fun-up to flame, encourage the

actualization of the commitments you made during the conference to lead to and enhance long

term involvement in mission within your area of calling.

As Christians at the market Place we need to have a consensus on the extent to which diversity and

different values are to be valued at the work place as we engage different kinds of work/ jobs that are

fulfilling our dreams. Holistic mission is the mandate of all Christians in the world as it is articulated

well by our Lord Jesus Christ in His maiden speech in the synagogue at Nazareth in Lukes Gospel

    4:18.

More often than not societal values are more implicit than explicit. They are not always articulated

clearly and they can change over time. To the contrary Christian values should be more explicit thanimplicit in the sense that your values are seen in the way you conduct the normal routine and

incorporating biblical principles in your practice.

As we keep our focus take a minute and ask yourself how these have applied in your life over this

    period:-

Grace a subversive value! Giving people more than they deserve.

Hope not a guarantee of immunity from harm but a conviction that God is always present

Faith - the means to real depth in relationships of all kinds

Love means to love the unlovely

Justice for all (not just-me). A concept biased in favor of the disadvantaged.

Joy impossible to legislate for this but an essential social value

Service meaning is found in service rather than self-centeredness

Peace not just the absence of fighting but positive well-being

Our encouragement is that do as much as you can, Pray all that you can and allow God to work

out His will in you. Share your testimony, however small for Gods Glory and for the

encouragement of each other in this work for in deed your labour in the Lord in not in vain
