    Purpose

*The purpose of this investigation was tosee how different wind speeds affect theenergy absorbed by a windmill

*I became interested in this idea because

we know wind mills need wind toproduce energy but we dont know what

their speeds have to do with it.

*The information gained from thisexperiment could be used to determinedwhere wind mills should most likely beplaced and to show the significant

amount of energy a wind mill can

    Background Research

    Wind speeds aremeasured byanemometer

When the windblows, it pushesagainst the bladesof the wind turbine,

making them spin. They power agenerator toproduce electricity.

The more the windis blown the morethe blades move

making the shaftsinside the windmillspin , producingenergy.

    Background ResearchHow does it work?

The wind blows ,andthe blades turn, asthe blades turn, it

moves the shaftsinside of it . Then theshafts turn the tip ofthe motor . As the tip

of the motor turns itcreates energy insidethe motor.

Then as the energyis inside the motor itbounces of twomagnets , turninginto electricity then ittravels down thewires lighting the led

light.(if the energyabsorbed is morethan 30 milli-wattsthen and only then

    the led light will

    Hypothesis

If the wind speeds rise then moreenergy is absorbed because themore the wind blows, the blades

continue to move ,making theshafts spin and when the shaftsspin energy is produced.

    Results

From the results shown in my bargraph it is proven that the higher thewind speeds , more energy is

    absorbed by a windmill.

How do wind speeds affect the energy absorbed by a windmill?

I did several experiments to see how the I.V Affects the D. V

The higher the wind speeds themore energy is absorbed by awindmill.

When wind speeds where 10mph theenergy absorbed was 12 milli-watts,then from there as the wind speedsincreased so did the energyabsorbed

My claim is that the higher the wind speeds the more energy isabsorbed by a windmill, because during an experiment it is shown thatas the wind speeds increased so did the energy absorbed by the windmill.

    Conclusion

    a. My claim is that the higher the windspeeds the more energy isabsorbed by a windmill, because

during an experiment it is shownthat as the wind speeds increasedso did the energy absorbed by the

    wind mill.

    Conclusion

    b. From the results found, myhypothesis was indeed correct .

    c. During this experiment when a trialof 20mph was being done thewindmill fell and absorbed 5 milli-watts.( This trial was thrown out )

    d. .

    Conclusion

    d. If I were to do this experiment again Iwould do it out on a open field and Iwould take in the amount of trees

into affect , to see if that would affectthe results.

    e. If I could investigate farther I would

do an experiment on the questionhow does trees affect wind speeds .
