• Technology is a two edged sword,
• it has it’s positive effects as well as negative effects on our lives
• we’ll discuss the negative effects of technology on our lives in details.

• When people talk of technology what comes up in your mind?
3
• A lot of people think of technology as the internet.

• Every man made things that we see around us is a product of technology
• The way we cultivate and utilize our natural resources are also a product of technology
• when we talk of technology we are talking about everything made by man.
5
Few of the side effects of technology
6
1. Depleting our natural resources• Man may have benefited a lot from the
development of technology
• but this is at the great expense of the environment
• The technology used to harness our natural resources
• it can harvest billions of resources in such a short time.
• so fast the world is being sucked dry of its natural riches.
7
2. Pollution
• Pesticides, carbon dioxide emission, toxic waste in the water, products like plastic that decay are all products of technology
• Pesticides are to control pests and the spread of disease,
• carbon dioxide emission is from cars
• toxic materials from factories
• and plastic
8
3. Extinction
• Technology is affecting the every living thing but animals other than man because these animals are more vulnerable
• example
• The bald eagle, the peregrine, and the brown pelican have been unable to successfully reproduce mainly due to the synthetic chemical DDT
9
• DDT is a product of agricultural technology used to kill pests
• that this bright idea was going to kill the birds too
• Highly developed countries have curtailed the use of DDT.
• several developing countries that are still using this pesticide until today
10
4. Health
• technology help people doing almost everything and provides wide range of entertainment
• become lazier and not likely to participate in outdoor activities
• many health problems are caused by the impact of technology
11
5. Massive destruction
• developments in terms of arms and warfare has also made humanity more vulnerable at being wiped out
• and the planet obliterated with just a click of a button.
12
Effects of Technology on Children
13
• Internet technology and video games have become addictive to so many children
• Many kids have become victims of internet predators and others have become video game addicts
• leaves them with no time to interact with other children
• resulted into increased cases of loneliness and depression
14
• Technologies used by children include: Video games , Smart phones , Television , Computers , Tablets , Internet , social networks , chatting services , calculators and much more
15
Screen time can make a kid fat
• Children who spend more time watching television , playing video games , using computers , spend less time exercising, deposit fats in their bodies
• they do less movement and exercises• these fats accumulate in the body and the child
will become fat• Obesity can result into diseases like hurt failure,
depression, diabetes, and these diseases can be expensive to treat.

Effects of modern technology on human life
• with more technology placing barriers between people, face to face meetings happen less.
• People are becoming more lazy

• it also has done serious environmental damage as the increasing threat of smog, acid rain
22
• prime example of unsustainable modern practices is the American food system
• which relies on technologies
• such as large-scale mechanical pesticide applicators and the genetic modification of plants
• to produce food products cheaply and quickly
23
• Instead of walking for some time to get to the stores, they prefer to buy items online from their homes.
• the young generation is lacking proper communication skills
24
Effects of technology on wildlife
25
Radiation from towers affect wildlife'
• Radiation from mobile towers may have varying negative impact on wildlife especially birds and bees
• negative impact of electro-magnetic radiations (EMR) on birds and bees
26
The environment ministry directed that
• not to permit new mobile towers within a one-km radius of the existing ones
• so as not to obstruct flight path of birds
• also not to increase the combined radiation from all towers in the area".
• Telecom Service Providers can minimize the need of having additional towers
27
Negative Facts About Wind Energy
