Globalization, Culture and the Roles of the Media, AUTUMN 2013 FINAL EXAM. The two parts (see below) must be in one document and is to be handed in no later than Tuesday December 10 at 12 (midday) (see more below). Your paper must address one of the questions below: 1. Discuss and evaluate some of the major changes impinging on the production of foreign and/or global news. 2. Critically evaluate some of the consequences of UGC and citizen journalism for international and/or global journalism. 3. Discuss aspects of how the representations of global events in a new media landscape may relate to understanding, solidarity and purpose beyond national communities. In relation to the broader question you choose you must define a more specific problem statement that can structure your paper. In your answer you must define the main concepts on which you base your argumentation. In your paper you can draw on readings from the entire course. It is a good idea to use examples where appropriate to address the issue(s) you choose. You can use examples from different countries to support your argument or base your paper on a single case study (perhaps from your own country). Length: max. 6 pages (of 2400 characters incl. spaces). This assignment is part II of the final exam. A revised edition of your mid-term essay is part I. These two parts — put together — must not exceed 10 pages (of 2400 characters incl. spaces). And, none of the parts must be under 4 pages (of 2400 characters incl. spaces). You must put both parts together in one document. Although the two parts are considered as stand-alone pieces you may refer back and forth between the parts.

SUBMISSION You must use a specific front page. This can be found at the link below (where you can also find a detailed description of the procedure). You must hand in two paper copies (with the appropriate front page) plus send a PDF copy to [email protected] This must be done prior to handing in the paper copies. The receipt that you receive must accompany the paper copies. The paper copies are to be handed in from 10-14 at Tåsingegade 3, building 1442, at the lower level.
