Stackable Credentials/Career Paths: Good for Students, Colleges and Industry, Lynn Reha & Lavon Nelson Learn about examples of ways in which continuing and community education can expand its role in career development. Career and Technical Education professionals in Illinois community colleges have utilized a combination of the US Department of Education’s Career Cluster initiative and stackable credentials to create career paths with multiple entry and exit points. The presenters will give examples of certificates which can be utilized as parts of a career path, including community education classes. Participants will learn about how they can support continuing and community education students by preparing them for stackable credentials.

Craft and Sustain Community College/University Partnerships. This interactive presentation will assist institutions in considering the development of partnerships and how those partnerships might flourish. Many words have been used to describe partnerships including collaboration, cooperation, joint ventures, affiliations, trusts, combinations, relationships, groups, and alliances. In today’s climate in higher education we need to find ways to pool our resources to provide students with high quality education while finding ways to be as efficient with our resources as possible. Sustaining partnerships into healthy growth models will be examined and discussed.
