Cleanable Filter Elements and Cartridges

Manufactured from randomly laid metal fibres, sinter-bonded to form a uniform high porosity filter medium, Sinterflo® F demonstrates a significantly low pressure drop, high permeability and excellent dirt holding capacity.

Moreover,sinteredmetalfibremaybepleatedtoincreasetheavailablefiltrationareaofafilterelement,thereby further increasing dirt holding capacity, minimisingmaintenanceandmaximisingon-streamprocessing.

Withthefeasibilitytoformulatemetalfibrestomeetspecificapplicationrequirements,combinedwithinherentdurability,sinteredmetalfibrefilterscanbe cleaned in situwithoutinterruptingprocessflow,therebyprovidingtheultimateinprocesseconomicsbyreducingdowntimetoaminimum.

The Trapfil™ filter from Porvair Filtration Group has been specifically developed for the retention of diatomite and polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) particles. It is manufactured from materials which are 100% FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved and fully welded for strength and integrity.

TheallpolypropyleneconstructionenablestheTrapfilTM filtertoberesistanttohotcausticsolutionandstandardCIPpractices.Itisalsocompatiblewithsteamandhotwater sanitising procedures.

Designedtobebackflushed in situtoremovediatomiteandPVPPparticles.TheTrapfilTMfilterhasbeenindustryproventowithstandupto100backflushcycleswithhotcausticsolutionat70-80ºC(158-176ºF).ThisbackflushingprocesswillregeneratetheTrapfilTMfilterprovidingtheenduserwithimprovedeconomics.

Vinofil™ membrane cartridges have been specifically designed, by Porvair Filtration Group for wine and beer filtration, as a final filter for cold biological stabilisation. Vinofil™ cartridges utilise a double layer of naturally hydrophilic polyethersulphone (PES) membrane with a mirrored asymmetric pore structure, which provides graded filtration throughout its depth, resulting in higher throughputs and long service life. When combined with quality all-polypropylene components and high integrity manufacturing techniques, the VinofilTM filter cartridge is ideally suited to the most demanding process conditions.

VinofilTMcartridgesexploitthenarrowporesizedistributionandhighvoidvolumeofthemediatoprovideachoiceofcartridgescapableofmeetingtherequirementsofmostapplications.CarefulmediaselectionensuresthatVinofilTM cartridges are also very suited to critical particle control down to 0.2 micronratings.VinofilTMcartridgesofferhighfluxratesandlowdifferentialpressures,afeaturecommontopolyethersulphonemembranes.

Our Vyon® porous media is manufactured from USP Class VI approved HDPE or PP materials, making it particularly suitable for both food and pharmaceutical applications. It has a uniform pore structure giving an even total area fluidisation. The Vyon® silencer is a sintered polyethylene body mouldedtoahighdensitypolyethyleneadapter.

The silencer screws directly into the exhaust port of a control valve. The exhausting air escapes to the atmospherebyexpandingthroughtheporousbody.

Cartridge ConstructionStabifilTMcartridgesareconstructedfrommaterialsproventobenon-toxicandmeetinternationallegislation including EC10/2011 for food contact, USP VI and FDA CFR Title 21.

The cartridges are built using technology that is unique to Porvair’sfiltercartridgesandporouspolymers.

No glues or resins are used to bond the adsorbent, polymerorcartridgehardware.

Product EvaluationBelow is a chart showing tannoid reduction of a selection of beers dosed at an equivalent of 25g/hl of adsorbent.

AnumberofdifferenttypesofbeerswereprocessedthroughascaleddownStabifilTMfiltercomprisedofa PorvairS-typefiltermodule.Aspecificflowrateof

20hl/hr/m2wasused,withacontacttimebetweentheadsorbentandbeerofjust12seconds.Thebeerwasprocessedwithin20minutesandrapidlyregeneratedin situ with caustic cleaning followed by a phosphoric acid wash.

A17-foldregenerationoftheStabifilTM cartridge indicatednolossofstabilisationeffect;furthermore,nopowder was present in any of the processed beer.
