DISC FILTRATION TECHNOLOGY

• Easy and simple operation

• Long-term operation with minimal maintenance

The grooves of any two adjacent discs, pressed together, create a series of crossing points which form multiple particle traps. In the filtration process, the force of the spring, along with the differential pressure, firmly compress the discs together providing exceptional filtration efficiency. Filtration occurs as water percolates from the outer diameter to the inner diameter of the filter element. Depending on the micron rating there are multiple crossing points in each track creating distinctive in-depth filtration.

FILTRATION PROCESSThe colour coded micron sized filtration discs are stacked on the Spin Klin™ spine and assembled according to predetermined water filtration requirements. During filtration. The discs are compressed by means of a preloaded spring and the differential pressure, forcing the water to pass through the grooved discs surface, and thus trapping the solids.

BACKWASH PROCESSActivated by a predefined time command or differential pressure setting the system enters backwash mode. The inlet valve port shuts as the drain port opens. During the backwash process, pressure is released and the spine’s piston rises releasing the compression on the discs. Tangential jets of clean water are then forced through the nozzles positioned along the spine. At this stage the discs spin freely, loosening the trapped solids which are then flushed out.

operatIonWater enters the filter via the inlet and spreads evenly onto the media. Solids and organic materials are trapped within the media. The clean water passes through the media and flows out via the nozzles. The back flushing process is done by shutting the inlet of the filter and allowing the water to enter from the bottom, lifting the media and releasing the solids that exit the filter through the back flush manifold. This process can be controlled automatically.

• Conical rubber protection or expendable connection on the joint between hydrocyclone and the sedimentation tank

operatIonWater enters the hydrocyclone via the tangential inlet which creates a spiral flow along the walls of the filter. The centrifugal force separates the waste and sand particles and pushes them towards the walls of the sand separator. Those particles gravitate downwards into the sedimentation tank, while clean water moves upwards and exits through the top outlet. For the sand separator to operate correctly the head loss must remain between 2-5m. The separation efficiency is not affected by the accumulation of dirt in the sedimentation tank. The sedimentation tank is drained by opening a flush valve for a few seconds manually or automatically by timer.

operatIonAutomatic flushing of the fine screen is activated once the pressure differential (ΔP) in the filter reaches pre-determined value (up to 0.5 bar).

During the flushing cycle the flushing valve opens pressure is released from the hydraulic piston and debris laden water is discharged through the flushing valve. Pressure in the hydraulic motor chamber and the dirt collector is significantly lowered causing the dirt collector nozzles move along and rotate thus cleaning the whole internal screen surface.

The flushing cycle takes 5 to 13 seconds. The flushing valve closes at the end of the cycle pressure is reapplied to the piston, moving the nozzles back to their rest position and the filter is cleaned. During the whole process water supply is uninterrupted.

operatIonThe filters have been designed and built in accordance with the principle of water flow through the screen openings while solid particles are collected at the lower section of the filter.
