Assignment Scenario
You are working for a small but ambitious production company that has been contracted to supply a series of cult film trailers (of which each group or individual have to produce one) similar in style to the retro ‘Grindhouse’ trailers. You can select any genre but must be mindful of adapting this ‘cult cinema’ style.
Suggested genres that would ‘fit in’ with the stylistic aesthetic as mentioned above would be: horror, action, sci-fi, and comedy.
In order to gain feedback on the success of your trailer you will also need to pitch the trailer to an audience discussing technical qualities, including target audience, editing techniques and strengths & weaknesses.

Task Scenario:You are to complete a designated BBFC workbook to improve your understanding of the BBFC and the constraints that a film maker experiences. It is through this understanding that you will better appreciate the origination and development for a media product.

Task Scenario:As an editor you will need to undertake original Primary Research in the development of your retro film trailer. You must gauge your peer’s opinions and the opinions of others through surveys and questionnaires. You must also develop initial mind-maps and brainstorms to plan early concepts (even if some ideas do not come to fruition).

Evidence:Your Market Research should consist of a series of questionnaires and surveys designed to identify potential viewers of your film trailer. These facts can help mould your trailer to be more successful. This will show evidence of your development and research skills when creating a film trailer with a specific target audience in mind. Task Scenario:As an editor / film maker there are certain legal and ethical restraints which you must following order to broadcast your product to the general public. You will need to submit relevant OFCOM regulations that relate to the content of your film trailer. These need to be annotated with reasons for their relevance to your project.
Evidence:Your OFCOM Regulations should consist of a series of rules of practice as selected from the master OFCOM document rules of practice. Your OFCOM selection will provide evidence of your ability to develop and research a media product for mass consumption. See OFCOM codes of practice for more details.
