Synopsis: Choosing convenience over satisfaction, we have succumbed to using technology in many aspects of our daily lives. This feature-length poetic film evokes a sense of the haptic, by documenting the work of makers whose essential tools are their hands. The subjects in the film insist that an intuitive, obsessive, and committed use of their hands brings them a primal satisfaction and an emotional sustenance that goes beyond our conventional understanding of the world. The film director Lajwanti will be present during screening. Pygmy hog is a critically endangered species which is endemic to the grasslands of South Himalyan foothills. Once ranged over the entire Himalyan states, is now restricted to only a single wild population in Assam due to habitat loss. The present talk will cover the behavioural ecology of this illusive animal in its native habitat and throw lights on the conservation breeding program being undertaken to save the animal from extinction. Winner of Gold at the German Film Awards as Outstanding Film for Children the film captures very beautifully how the tentative first stirrings of love give the physically ill Amelie new strength psychologically. A girl struggling with asthma is taken to a clinic in South Tyrol to be cured. After some time she decides to get out of this hell (that’s how she feels about it) and soon she’ll meet a new friend. Together they try to reach the peak of a mountain where, according to an old custom, she can be healed. www.facebook.com/goethezentrum.hyderabad hp://hyderabad.german.in GERMAN LANGUAGE - UPCOMING COURSES Film Screening German Movie Day Coconut Hero A podcast of stories told by the women whose lives were impacted by Shaheen.
