These are examples of the film

regulation certificates created by the

BBFC. They are put in place to ensure

that children are protected against

things they shouldn’t be seeing (e.g

violence, murder and abusive

language). They can also help

determine and help the audience

distinguish what genre the film might be

and what they should expect to see. For

example a horror is usually certified a 15

or 18 but if it were certified a PG the

audience will know that it wont be very

scary or gruesome. A 12A certificate is

used in cinema but not on DVD. If a 12A

is used on a film the DVD is more than

likely to receive a 12.

The genre of film I have chosen to create a

trailer on is romance. Having done some

research on romance films I have found

that most are certified 12 or 15 depending

on the context of the film. Due to the plot

ideas and target audience in which my

trailer is aimed at I am more than likely to

certify it a 12.
