Overview and objectives

The film premiere will launch our anti-sectarianism film we have produced. We will also have an awards ceremony to

thank all of the participants who helped in producing the film. There will also be an opportunity for those who attend to

interact with a variety of stalls and activities which will be present on the day.

Our aim will be to attract 60 participants to the event and will be open to all members of the public visiting Ocean Terminal

on the day.

The following outcomes will also be sought from the event:

Outcome 1

There is greater knowledge and understanding of sectarianism and increased understanding of the key issues and tensions

around intra-Christian sectarianism by people living in Leith.

Outcome 2

Participants will have a respectful attitude to other people’s beliefs/ improvement in cross-denominational relationships in Leith/

improved relationships between religious, cultural and community groups in Leith.

Outcome 3 The local community will have a greater recognition of and more opportunity to celebrate the value of the diverse intra-Christian and multicultural make up of Leith.

The event

The event will premiere our new anti-sectarianism film, while providing those who attend the opportunity to find out more

about future anti-sectarianism work taking place in Leith. There will also be a magician doing magic tricks to participants.

The Venue

Ocean Terminal: We will have full use of the community space.

Summary of event format

The main event will start at 11.00pm where participants will have the opportunity to view and interact with the

various stalls and activities which will be taking place.

Need to agree times for film to be shown to take place.

Outside catering will be provided by Susang Bomzan from Punjabi Junction has been contacted in regards to this –

George has been confirmed regards to catering - £5 per head for 50 people.

Event to end at 2.00pm.

Promotion

Event details will be posted on www.actiononsectarianism.com

2 weeks prior to event – lead worker to visit relevant groups to promote event – This will include all PDP groups – older

men’s group etc.

Other considerations

Space: Good open plan space which should work well for participant’s walking around and checking out the various stalls

and activities.

Lighting: Current lighting really good.

Speeches: Mark Lazarowitz has confirmed he will say some words on the day and also hand out the Oscar awards we

have. Councillors -

Music: PA system will be provided by Pegasus.

Video: The film will be shown on the day. Pegasus will deliver and set up the equipment on the day for this. They will set

up at 10.00am on Saturday 28th.

Seating: 40 chairs and 4 tables have been ordered from Andrew Wilson. These will be delivered on Friday 27th – delivery

time to be confirmed.

Photography: Youthlink Scotland may be able to provide a photographer on the day. We will also source a photographer

to take pics on the day - £50/60 fee is available. We will however need full use of the photos and no restrictions be placed

on them.

Photography and filming

I have spoken with Sarah Robinson from Youthlink Scotland and she has confirmed they will also be able to support with

picture taking and filming as part of the event. Sarah will return from holiday on September 26th. In regards to this filming

we should also find out whether PDP will be able to use the filmed footage in our resource/tool kit.

I will be meeting with Stevie Powers (local photographer) on Friday 6th March, who will also be taking photos for us on the

day.
