Year 8 DT Film Poster Graphic Design Look at the four different poster versions below from the film ‘ Star Wars’. Believe it or not there were over 40 different versions designed when the film opened around the world in 1977. Have a look on the internet for the poster for your favourite film. How many different versions can you find and how are they different? You could produce a Powerpoint page showing the different versions. Changes are usually made depending on which country the film is being shown in. For example: if one of the actors is more well known in a certain country then the poster will have them either larger or more to the front. Some countries have strict laws about what can/cannot be shown on posters in public so changes may have to be made. Also, some posters may be designed to appeal to younger people and displayed near schools. More below

Your own poster designThis is an exercise that we have been doing with the Key Worker students. Have a go if you want:-You can choose an existing film or make up one of your own and design the poster for it. First you need to brainstorm a list of pictures, colours and characters from the film and have a few sketch ideas in rough. After sketching you will create the final design using Powerpoint IT.
