FIGHTING TEEN OBESITY

What is Obesity?
• When the weight is atleast 10% higher than what is recommended for a specific body type.
• An excessive amount of body fat
What does it cause?
• Type 2 diabetes• High Cholestoral• Heart Disease• Some Cancers• High blood pressure• Asthma• Death
What causes it?
• Poor nutrition• Low level of physical
activity• Depression
What are some signs?
• Less energy• Obsessed with eating• Sleeps too much or not
enough• Reluctant to go to
school• Sad, lonely or angry
Nutrition
• Foods like french fries, pizza and pasta should be limited.
• Eat fruits, vegetables and grains
• Important vitamens and minerals
• Drink a lot of water
Fitness
• Exercise at minimum 3 times per week
• An easy way to lose weight is just by walking
• Have a more active life style
• Join a fitness class
Ways to treat/prevent obesity
• Eat slowly• Control Portions• Eat meals with the family
instead of in front of the tv• Limit snacking• Don’t use food as a
reward• Exercise with friends to
make it fun
In conclusion…
• FIGHT/PREVENT TEEN OBESITY!!!
