BEARING FRUIT

“Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.”

John’s words come to us on this day when the Gospel passage presents

us with the great image of the vine and the branches. Jesus uses the

image as a warning to those who have begun to distance themselves from

the way of the Lord. One of the ways this happens is when we love God

and others “in word or speech” instead of “in deed and truth.” What does

it mean for us to “remain in Christ”? In an extension of the metaphor, the

Lord gives us an example. If we remain in him, we will bear much fruit.

As the branches, we draw strength from Christ who is the vine. This

strength enables us to bear fruit—to do the work of true discipleship.

PARA DAR FRUTO

“Hijos míos: No amemos solamente de

palabra; amemos de verdad y con las obras”. Las

palabras de Juan nos llegan hoy cuando el pasaje

del Evangelio nos presenta con la gran imagen del

viñedo y las ramas. Jesús usa la imagen como un

aviso a los que se han empezado a distanciar de la

senda del Señor. Esto sucede cuando amamos a

Dios y a otros “con palabras o dichos” y no con

“la verdad y las obras”. ¿Qué significa para

nosotros “permanecer en Cristo”? El Señor nos da

un ejemplo con la extensión de la metáfora. Si

permanecemos en él, daremos mucho fruto. Como

ramas sacamos la fuerza de Cristo que es la viña.

Esa fuerza nos facilita dar fruto –hacer el

Prayer in Defense of Marriage God our Father, we give you thanks for the gift of marriage: the bond of life and love, and the font

of the family. The love of husband and wife enriches your Church with children, fills the world with a multitude of spiritual fruitfulness and service, and is the sign of the love of your Son, Jesus Christ, for his Church. The grace of Jesus flowed forth at Cana at the request of the Blessed Mother. May

your Son, through the intercession of Mary, pour out upon us a new measure of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as we join with all people of good will to promote and protect the unique beauty of

marriage. May your Holy Spirit enlighten our society to treasure the heroic love of husband and wife, and guide our leaders to sustain and protect the singular place of mothers and fathers in the lives of their children. Father, we ask that our prayers be joined to those of the Virgin Mary, that

your Word may transform our service so as to safeguard the incomparable splendor of marriage. We ask all these things through Christ our Lord, Amen. Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.

Dios Padre nuestro, te damos gracias por el don del matrimonio: vínculo de vida y amor, y fuente de la familia. El amor de marido y mujer enriquece a

tu Iglesia con hijos, llena el mundo con una abundancia de fecundidad espiritual y servicio, y es signo del amor de tu Hijo, Jesucristo, por su Iglesia.

La gracia de Jesús brotó en Caná a petición de su Santa Madre. Concédenos que tu Hijo, por la intercesión de la Virgen María, derrame sobre

nosotros una nueva medida de los Dones del Espíritu Santo al unirnos con toda persona de buena voluntad para promover y proteger la belleza única

Summer Basketball Camp

The University of the Pacific is offering a discount to the Coach Verlin 2015 Summer Basketball Camp. All young boy and girls of St. Anne's Parish, 3

rd-8

th grade, are

St. Anne's must have 20 players pre-registered for a 20% discount applied to each player. Normal session is $230/player, with the 20% discount cost is $184/player for a four day session!

La Universidad del Pacífico está ofreciendo un descuento para el Campamento de Baloncesto del Entrenador Verlin durante el verano 2015. Todos los niño y niñas de la parroquia de Santa Ana, del 3 º- 8 º grado, están invitados.
