Medi'asinus, An informal network ‘without borders’ of donkey mediation which is having a constitutional project and realizes it’s first steps by having a symposium at Biella in Italy. The initiative was taken by Médi’âne, an organization founded in 2003 and since that date engaged to exchange experiences and investigations of donkey mediation with the aim to share the knowledge of the donkey and his history with other people. From the first encounter “The donkey in a world of social bond” on Médi’âne has directly seen his adventure as a cultural happening participated by many people coming from other countries than France such as: Canada, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal … The idea of creating something in this context “without borders” reached the Italian contact of Médi’âne and they decided to mobilize themselves with this idea of formalizing this dynamics and particularities at Médi’âne in mind. The “Centre National de Reference de l’IAA” (CRN IAA) has established a successful collaboration with Médi’ane and is very happy with the proposition to support the meeting of several European groups who all share the passion for donkeys and their work. The donkey assisted mediation in educational and therapeutic prospects, together with the CRN IAA, the donkey sanctuary of Biella and the “Community Raglio.com” have shown their will to coordinate the event in a logistic an organizational way . This French –Italian collaboration has agreed on the term “mediation”; hereby referring to all the activities which are identified as “Animal Assisted Interventions” including therapies, re-education ….. The chance of uniting organizations, all active in working with donkey mediation, is considered by the organizers as an unique occasion for the Italian donkey drivers to speak about their experiences and to promote the communication across the borders. In consequence, this symposium is not limited to donkey professionals in donkey mediation only but has the aim to reach the whole “donkey world” in order to create an as rich as possible exchange. On the other side, the colloquium can be an occasion for the professional donkey drivers to obtain possibilities for future meetings, reflections and investigations on donkey mediation. This prospect will be evaluated at the end of the colloquium that will be attended by many international speakers. Because of the presence of many participants from different countries, the international conference (from which you find the program enclosed) well need translations in English, French an Italian which will be done by the organizers. This program, which puts the accent on the donkey assisted interventions, will not be limited
to the 11th of October. It should give the possibility to meet other donkey drivers in the days
before and after the conference; this to enrich the exchanges.
To cover the costs of organization a participation of 50 euro will be asked for
an inscription before the 31of July 2014 (conference + pauses + buffet / day of
11 October). After this date, the participation will be 80 euro. The organizers of
Medi’asinus will give you the links needed in order to find an hotel during your
stay in Biella (the costs of meals and hotel are on the account of the
participants)
