The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways run through the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park, with its stunning mixture of mountains, lakes, forests and coastline. The air is fresh and clear and much of the area enjoys Dark Sky status. It also boasts a wide variety of camp sites, allowing you to make the most of this wonderful area. Here are just a few of the sites that enjoy close proximity to the railway. Several are within walking distance of one of our stations – which is particularly handy for motor homes and camper vans. However, if you are at a site that is slightly further afield, many of our stations have a car park, or there are council car parks close by, which are barrier free. Most trains offer an 'at your seat' refreshment service and there are also cafés at, or close to, our major stations. The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways are part of a network of tourist routes - including the Wales Coast Path, many cycle and walking routes, plus national bus and train links. So, whether you want to go out exploring or simply sit back and let our historic steam locomotives do all the work, the F&WHR will make a great part of your camping holiday...
