Incoming Officer Team Works Hard & Plays Hard

During this summer, the Nimitz FFA officer team went on its annual officer camping trip to Loyd Park at Joe Pool Lake, and camped next to the lake for 3 days. Along for the retreat were chapter advisors; Ms. Gowan, Mr. Spiller, Mr. Florence and Ms. Dudley. "The officer retreat is a great way for the team to bond, plan, and be better able to serve the chapter," Ms. Gowan explains. The chapter officers are working hard at making this year exciting and productive, and are trying to engage younger classmates (freshmen & sophomores) to be more active in the FFA organization. Therefore, our chapter's officers came up with an idea in an attempt to get those freshman and sophomores intrigued. The idea that the officers fused together was to have a back to school bash at the first FFA meeting of the year. The meeting will include games, food, and official chapter business to give attendees an exciting taste of what the organization is like. The chapter officers also took time to construct the chapter’s Program of Activities, or POA. A POA consists of an outline of activities planned to cover the fiscal year the FFA chapter operates within. The activities are based on the interests, needs, and desires of the chapter members.

Six agricultural educators help guide the Nimitz FFA chapter. This school year, Ms. Sarah Galloway and Mr. Matt Florence are new to join the team.
