FEW POINTS TO PONDER BEFORE GOING IN TO THE FINALS

Now India and Sri Lankans are in the finals of the 2011 Cricket world cup. Both teams

have done well during their first round and second round matches. Despite that both teams were

ranks as the hot favorites before coming in to the game. If you carefully scrutinize the

performances of both teams in their preliminary matches it is evident that Sri Lankan has donefairly a better job than the Indians in all departments. Indian batting was their forte, but

apparently Indians were dismissed within their fifty overs at several occasions whereas Sri

Lankas were only dismissed once against the strong Pakistanis.

Apart from that, the runs considered by Indians in their Quota of 50 over are too many

while measure up with the Sri Lankans. Its around 1505/299.4 overs and it shows the strength

in their bowling. While Sri Lankans have done a fairly good job in all departments whilst match

up with the Indians. Its true that Indians are having a better batting line up and the issue is the

consistency and the temperament? It is more likely both top orders are in good knick and the

middle and the lower order is questionable. Since Lankans have tested their middle and the lowerorder only twice in this competition. In view of the fact that the top order has to bare all

constrains at this vital finale as well. Despite dropping three vitals catches against the

Englishman, Lankans did a better job in their ground fielding but yet again with the Kiwis

    fielding seem to be superior.

The Indians seems to be very focused on the game and regardless loosing wickets or else

considering too many runs the end state was a success. The plus point what I see in Indians is the

character what they have shown throughout. Apparently Indians had to play against the most

fancied sides at the second stage while doing tremendously well and went on to out play their

traditional rivals Pakistan at the pressure game as well.

Sri Lankans were pressurized by the media through criticizing the middle order. Due to

which all four top order batters had to play throughout. Its good to see Tharanga,Sanga and

Dilshan in full swing, but its more obvious that the top order is gripping a unnecessary pressure.

If and when on a sudden top order collapse Thilan and Chamara seems to be confined only to the

crease without going for their shots and over and above not playing their natural game. Its not a

positive sign for the Lankans and lot of talking and planning has to be implemented in view of

handling pressure and to build self confidence.

As a whole we as a cricket loving community would be eager to see the positive approachof both the teams in order to deliver some fabulous cricket.
