1. Admission Criteria • Students attaining at least 50% of marks in English Language, Mathematics and

all science subjects in S.3;

• priority will be given to students who excel in math and science subjects.

• Students demonstrating maturity in making an informed choice in an interview.

2. Can students switch to another stream after S4?• Not recommended in general

• Possible if the students could fulfil the promotion criteria in the other stream.

1. Are curricula of DSE and GCE different?• Yes, different coverage and lesson time. But they have common elements.

• GCE stream: different exam schedule, subject combination

• More curriculum time in electives, less lesson time in languages

• No LS in GCE (S.5 and S.6)

• Suitable for students planning to study overseas, strong in science, proficient in English

2. Can student drop Phy/Chem/Bio?• Yes, in S6 At least 3 IAL subjects (from Math/Phy/Chem/Bio)

• We suggest students taking 4 IAL subjects for better university admission

3. Any bridging to GCE A-level Curriculum?• Yes

• May have supplementary lessons for Integrated Curriculum

4. Are learning materials enough?• Teachers are preparing them

• Resources available on web and College Library

5. Can students take IGCSE exam as well?• It is not necessary in general. For individual students who really need to take

the IGCSE exam, they can apply for it as private candidate. HLC could provide information to assist the application procedure.

School Fee and ‘cross-subsidization’

• By offering GCE A-Level curriculum, our College may require torecruit teacher(s) and purchase additional materials (includingreference books), the School Fee for 1st Cohort will be about$45,000 which is slightly higher than those studying DSE curriculum.

• Extra expenses like manpower for GCE curriculum can be coveredby the additional school fee and basic subsidy from EDB. Hence, noproblem of ‘cross-subsidization’.
