2. Whats Google Fiber? A different kind of internet. 100 times faster than todays average internet. Currently being tested in Kansas City, Kansas. With time, it will expand to the rest of the U.S. Optional HDTV subscription. Regular internet is now free in Kansas City. 3. Gigabit Internet Package: 1 year contract: $70/month + taxes & fees. No data caps. Networking Box, with included firewall protection. 1 TB of Google Drive cloud storage. Optional add-on Chromebook laptop: $250 4. Gigabit + TV Package 2 year contract: $120/month + taxes and fees. No data caps. Networking Box with an included firewall. HD-ready and Bluetooth enabled TV Box. Over 174 channels, with optional add-on channels ata small fee. 1 TB of Google Drive cloud storage. 2 TB Storage Box. 2 Remotes: The Google Fiberremote and the Nexus 7 tablet. 5. Storage Box ? It is a DVR Save up to 500 hours of recorded HD content. Add your own photos, videos, music, etc. Record up to 8 shows at the same time. Access everything from any device in yourhome. 6. Free Internet Todays typical average speed internet is nowfree in Kansas City. Subscribers must pay a one time $300installation fee. Free service guaranteed for at least 7 years. No data caps. Can upgrade to fiber speed anytime, withno additional equipment needed. 7. 1 Gigabit? Todays internet = 5 megabits per second. Google Fiber = 1,000 megabits per second 1,024 megabits = 1 Gigabit This enables users to download HD moviesin less than a minute. 8. Drawbacks The connection is about 3X slower whenaccessed via Wi-Fi. TV service is still lacking things like YouTubeand HBO . You have to use the Google Fiber remotecontrol when using Netflix. 9. ConclusionEven though Google fiber has some minor drawbacks, most the country should be praying thatGoogle decides to start the fiber installationprocess in there city next.
