Manifesto- Female Social Welfare Officer I’m really keen on getting involved with SSCSU this year. Having been a member of college for over a year now, I want to take an active role in our JCR and think that Social Welfare is the place for me. I intend to continue the excellent work of Kim, providing entertainments, one on one time with anyone who needs it and tea and biscuits on demand. I’m a community minded individual, and am friendly and approachable. Although academic work is important, health and wellbeing should always come first. Work breaks, hobbies and socialising often make for a much happier student. Along with the Welfare Committee, I would push for better communal spaces, improvements to the TV rooms, and more Sidney based activities, such as aerobics and yoga. Last year saw the successful introduction of “women’s hour” in the gym.

I’m a community minded individual, and am friendly and

approachable. Although academic work is important, health and wellbeing should always come

first.

As female social welfare officer, I would work alongside the gym officer to see how we can make the Sidney gym more women friendly in terms of equipment, so women’s hour can be fully utilised. The new introduction of a male and female social welfare officer will mean that any member of college can choose to talk to either, but this doesn’t mean that I would just be their for women. Social Welfare is an issue that affects everyone and I will be there for anyone who is looking for help or advice.
